DEI owns the number 8, not Jr.
I think it will be #248, since Gordon is 24, Johnson 48.

As the Bush people said after the Florida recount, Get over it! It's just anumber, drivers and teams change numbers all the time! If Junior wants the precious number 8 so much he should have stayed with DEI and not had a hissy fit and left.

There isn't a thing Hendricks can do about it. they tried and I'm sure they may a very reasonable offer. Either way I hope Jr fans like that fluorescent yellow numbers.

I think the 08 is owned (controlled) by another team. Also technically it is is not the #08, it is really #108 but NASCAR only requires and only allows the last two digits to be on the car

Good idea, seems like I heard Nemechek is going to try and qualify a car with the 08 number at Michigan. When I looked up the entry list at nascar.com, I didn't see it listed so maybe not.
However, 08 in (20)08 sounds like a winner to me.

If he's not 8 I'm hoping he goes with 08. It makes the most sense. Either that or drive the 03 maybe.

He couldn't win in the #8 at DEI, so what makes you feel he will win with at HMS. Hendricks has no say in the matter.
