I ask this as I just read this part "you must kill him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God" which is talking about non-belivers. I certainly wouldn't follow this, so is there any more I shouldn't follow? Or is it best I just don't bother with the whole thing and use my own judgement in life :D

"But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves" A quote from Moses there after ordering all Midianite prisoners to be killed, well just the old women and men, the women children he ordered to be kept, this was an order from God.

I know its wrong to hold up small passages of the Bible like this, but its done all the time from the other side, ie in the case of homosexuality. I myself am an atheist and see religion as a complicated dangerous affair that we could do without. I follow facts, why believe more than you can see for yourselfs. Think people think!!!

I am going to be a spoiler, Jesus dies on page 352. Sorry about that.
The bible is a wiki. It has had so many people alter it to their own satisfaction and dogma anything original was deleted centuries ago. I would try and find your own way through life and not use religion as a crutch, you have a brain and judgement, use them.

You can either become a Christian and follow the bits that you like, just like the majority of Christendom.
Or, you can forget about the whole thing and do what you want, and hope that God will be favourable in his judgement.
Or, you can do some honest-hearted study about passages in the Bible which are not readily understood. You are correct that there are some accounts in the Bible which can initially be disturbing. But many people miss the fact that, if the Bible was just written by men and not inspired by God as it claims, why would these mean include such accounts which put some people off believing in God?
You are also correct to point out that much of today's religions mis-represent God. But does this mean that God approves of them, or that he doesn't exist at all? And does that mean that there are no religions out there who refuse to take part in war, who don't meddle in politics and who do their best to uphold high moral standards?

This is such a simple question to answer. Why does it keep coming up? Are people really that ignorant of Christian history?
You do realize that the Council of Jerusalem decided that the only part of the laws of Moses that still applied to gentiles (that is, you) under the New Testament are the ones that are purely moral in nature, and not those which only served to set Israel apart as a nation, and not those which formed the Constitution of the Israeli theocracy (Which never applied to you anyway since you are not Jewish.). See Acts chapter 15.
See also Mark 7:1-23; Galatians 5:16-26.
===edit===
Homosexuality is still a sin under the new Testament, so nice try.
And, by the way, you cannot get people to "think" by asking dumb questions that simply shows that you know nothing about their beliefs. Sorry, but it does not work.

You shouldn't ignore any of it.
You're right, you shouldn't use any verses out of context. You cannot pick and choose snippets from here and there to validate you're point either. It would take too long to address your snippets in an answer forum like this.
You said that you like to follow the facts, well:
It's not only the bible that talks about Jesus. Jewish and Roman historians said.."There was at that time Jesus, a wise man, if indeed we should call him a man."
Another guy reported.."Christ suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of Pontius Pilate."
Christianity is not about a "blind faith". It's a faith based on fact. Jesus existed, there is overwhelming evidence.

OK, the Bible is supposed to be the word of God, and there are many parts of the Bible that do not make any sense whatsoever, or seem totally immoral and strange.
Jesus said (in the Lords Prayer) "and lead us not into temptation", which means God could and will tempt you into doing all nature of WRONG things - it is up to you to understand what is right and wrong after understanding the stories and the world around you.

Don't ignore any - just learn from them!
People quote the Bible and go harping on about how bad it is but look out of your window - look at the stabbings, rapes, murders (not all stabbings lead to death hence me putting it separately), robberies... They happen in the name of SELF, self-centredness, self-righteousness. People even harm themselves, self-harm.
Don't point the finger at one book when you have awful things happen in the world where God isn't even being used as a scapegoat!

the OT as the christian faith believe jesus is there god, and not the god of the OT, so if you want to be true to the real god, the god that created the land the sky the animals and of course us, then dont be a christian.

If you DO become a Christian (and I pray that you will) take the advice of Stephen Neill:- "Hold to Christ and, for the rest, be totally uncommitted"
You will be in my prayers.

You're putting carts before horses.
First become a Christian. Read about the testiments of Jesus and what Jesus said and then learn to do it.
That can take most of your life.
Once you start to understand it you can go to the rest of the Bible and use the wisdom of Jesus to see things for what they are.
To give you an idea.
At a dinner with the head Pharasee the discussion of the day or rest of Sabbath came up.
Jesus asked the Pharasee what he would do if his cow or oxen fell into the well on the sabbath. Would he let the animal stay in there and possibly die and certainly pollute the well or would he and his servants do hard work on the sabbath to remove the animal safely from the well.
The Pharasee had no answer for him.
Now, learn the ways of Jesus and when you reach the point where you can have dinner with the Pope and stump the Pope on Bibical matters, you're a Christian and qualified to interpret the Bible.
