an 8 and a half year old isn't a puppy, its an adult. but ifs months, you're talking about something different.
i took my dog camping once. she did fine. she loves to sleep with people so i didnt put her in a cage in the tent. when shes outside u need to have her on a short leash. yeah, id let her have a pit stop about every hour. if u do go hiking or something then make sure u take her along and make it short. DO NOT leave her in the tent unattended.

Hi I have 3 dogs and they are used to go with me almost every where including Mexico (8 hrs driving) It won't be a problem at all taking her with you. This is what you need to do. First of all do not feed her much before the trip, put her in the cage while driving (for safty) and try to stop at least every 45 minutes for her to strech out and do her business and to prevent that she gets car sick (she'll probably vomit if she is not use to ride in a car for long period of time so, don't get scare that's normal until she gets used to it). Put her on a leash during the day when you are camping and put her back in the cage to sleep. You'll have a wonderful time sharing this experience with your pet. I hope this help. Cece

you can definately take her with you, but you will need to bring a few things.
1. a small carrier for her to travel in, filled with a cozy blanket and a toy or two.
She can also sleep in this inside the tent if you are worried she will have an accident if she is sleeping next to you.
2. a puppy harness and a 10ft lead, or tie out.
This will let her romp around with everyone, without you worrying about her running off, or slipping out of her collar
If you prefer, go with the 10 ft leash, as that way you can move around with each other, and you will always be able to just tie her to a tree if you need to use both hands for something. Watch out for the fire! (as if i need to tell you..) She probably hasn't seen one before, so she will want to check it out. Make sure you bring some bug repellant or some repellant wipes to spread on her, so that she will not be covered in mosqitoes! Other than that, she'll have a blast.
Oh! and make sure the place you are going to allows dogs, and find out what any restrictions are!
Have fun!!!!!
woah, weeks?? that might be too young for her to be out camping. I might take back the whole tie out thing. you might just want to keep her next to you the whole time, or in your arms depending on breed. keep the small carrier idea.

She might be a little young for camping, but if you are going to take her, make sure you have her crate for the car ride and sleeping. You should probably make at least one pit stop on the way, you need to bring one of her toys, water bowl, food, proof of vaccinations, etc. You will definitely need to put her food inside the car when you are not using it, as the raccoons will open your ice chest, bags, etc and eat everything they can get their little paws on. I would also check her VERY well for ticks when you leave. Again, at her young age, it would probably be more comfortable for her and your family to leave her at the kennel or with a trusted sitter. If she will be staying with other dogs, make sure she has been immunized for kennel cough, and has all her other shots.

dogs love camping. do stop for pit stops to give water and some food and allow her to do her business.keep her in the cage only if her misbehaves in the car(although it is safer in the cage). When you get to the camp site put her on a leash long enough to give here a little freedom of movement but not long enough to get in the way. at night put her back in here cage inside the tent(she not used to sleeping outside ether)

Well she needs to have ALL her shots-especially rabies- to go camping. If you're going to the pinery or anywhere around grand bend there are TONNES of raccoons and they will dig right through a tent to get to your dog or food.
She also needs to be on a heart-worm preventative. Heartworms are spread through mosquitoes- hello campfire.
I used to work at the Pinery so I know it's very dog friendly- but you'll have to be extremely careful if you want to do this.
If your dog gets lose it could get eaten by a raccoon and DIE. It could get lost in the woods etc. Lots of scary stuff so be carefull.

Any advise now is probably too late.
But 8 1/2 weeks means constant attention and you didn't mention your age.
You will have more fun if you do not have an infant to watch. Next year she will be old enough and hopefully trained enough to go and have fun.
Our dogs love to camp and fish and go boating. If they think I went camping and didn't take them they pout for days and won't speak to me or even look at me.

If she's 8 1/2 weeks old, i don't think you should take her. Just find someone you can trust very well, leave your cell number or another means of contact in case of an emergency. What ever you decide have fun!
Hope i helped

i think it would be a good idea to take her if all her shots records are all up todate there should not be any problems and while you sleep and i think you said in a tent just keep her leashed and tie it to you foot so she won't wonder that's what i do when we go right or keep tent zipped until you take her out by leash right
good luck and have a safe trip
