What age is the car?

Only cars first registered before March 2001 are taxed according to engine size.

Cars first registered on or after 1st March 2001 are taxed according to their official CO2 emissions. £77.00 is the correct price for 6 months' tax for a car with CO2 emissions of 151 to 165 g/km. Your V5c registration document will have the official CO2 emissions for your car on it.

Agree with Neil. £63-25 is the tax based on engine size for cars registered before 1/3/01, emissions-linked thereafter. When was yours first registered? If before 1/3/01, contact DVLA. If after, your emissions band is on the V5.

Did you pay by credit card. My wife has a 1392cc Nissan and "I" just taxed it and it cost me £115.00 for 12 months it would have cost "ME" £63.25 for 6 months go back to the post office and see if they have made a mistake. And take back your mot and your new tax disc to prove that you have been "scammed"

as others have said it depends on age of car, think it is very unlikely you will have been overcharged.
