my mom used to tell my brother and i this when we acted up. i'm just wondering whether if it's a fairly common statement, or just some wierd expression my mom uses from time to time. it never worked, by the way.

usafbrat64- i'm LCMS also. in fact, i think you've answered a question or two of mine. if i were you, i'd get rid of the social security numbers. they're less traceable that way.

Ours wasn't gypsies.... it was the orphanage! And there was on on the way to my GGparents house that she would always point out. My girls.... I tell them I'm leaving them on the street corner with their SS# pinned to their shirts!

Edit: Never thought about tracing them! I was just thinking someone might be more willing to take them if they got the tax break!! Hmmm, going to have to rethink this now......

Before my parents became Christians (I was 6 years old
when they did), we lived in the Philippines (at the air force base that was destroyed by a volcano about 10 years ago, btw); they told me they would sell my to the Hippies if I disobeyed!

Hippies could actually be seen on the streets in the Philippines all the time then (in 1975) with long hair, beads, guitars, and not too clean looking!
My parents repented of telling me that after they became
Christians. I remembered it very well. I remember
thinking about what it would be like to live on the streets
and travel around with them. I thought it
might be fun as well as not fun in ways! He He

I'm with Mel on this one. My mom said that to me once and only once, because I thought that living with the gypsies would be great, and in effect acted up even more.

Yes, she did, and it didn't prove effective on me back then either! LOL

Plus, after seeing a movie where Johnny Depp played a Gypsy, I kinda wish she had!

Well, I'm from Indiana and I've heard that expression there before. But my mother didn't use it with us. She used to take care of us herself, if you get my drift? The few times she couldn't handle it, she threatened to tell our Dad when he got home from work.

lol yes! and i always fantasized about it. i really wanted to be a gypsy lol - so it certainly didn't help straighten me out at all, if anything, i was more likely to screw up in hopes of being sent to the gypsies!

I have...esp. after my 2nd daughter went and lived with a group of Gypsies. When she and her boyfriend broke up, it became kind of the saying of the house for a while.
