Yes, they are capable of it, for a short period of time. The ability to wage war on multiple fronts on a large scale is not fiscally feasible.
As military units and assets are reduced through political (mis)decisions, we take away the capability of commanders to do this.

The biggest challenge is what we are looking at now in Iraq, the forces that would be used to support and carry out the second front are being used to supplement the main force to extend the amount of time in place. We do not have the force size we had during WW II where we were able to have large scale forces on two continents at once. The current force has been reduced, in lieu of technology (which still requires people to maintain and operate).

To address Dolia's comments, the proximity of Afghanistan and Iraq allow for reduced strain on military infrastructure (i.e. aircraft usage, personnel functions in theater). These assets can be utilized from one location to support both areas logistically. This is currently the case at two (maybe three) locations inside the AOR right now.

We used to be able to. Before the Clinton admin, our military was built to fight a war against a superpower while engaging in one or two smaller regional wars in another theater.

After Clinton took office, he gutted the military until we have the issues with fighting in two countries within the same region we are facing today.

It is possible, but it tends to strain the war effort. Fighting a war on two fronts is what did in Napoleon and Hitler. Yes, we fought Japan and Germany in WW2, but Germany was about done when Japan started. For the US, it would depend on the scale of the conflict(s) and what units were required for each.

yeah!!! It can fight multiple adversaries or enemies simultaneously. The United States military is the most powerful military in terms of firepower, mobility and technology. It can win any war with the help and support of its people and enough funding. The US has many allies. It can show its massive power thus, deterring any foreign powers from attacking the US and it's interests.

If required, Congress will reinstate the draft and at that point yes, we could fight multiple wars but not the way things are now.

Yes and no. If we are talking about war like WWII or Dessert Storm then yes. If we are talking about wars like Vietnam or Iraq then no. Our military is designed around the principle of massive firepower, rapid deployment, securing territory, destroying infrastructure and killing people until the aggressors are forced to surrender.

It is not designed for prolonged (decades long) skirmishes and nation building. It is not designed that way.

Don't count yourself short.
Be aware when the Freedom Fighters is at work.
Miracles do happen.
I stay in line and don't mess with them.
Ever wonder how the Liberation of Freedom from world war two was won by them.
Try and kick them on the butts.
Will know who get mess up out there.

I doubt it right now with the number of people signing up for the military.
If they had a draft....maybe
but lets not give them that idea or start another war.
