Advantage is not going to prevent the fleas from jumping on to your cat. It should kill the ones that do and should keep them from multiplying. You will probably still see on or two on your kitten especially if you let it outside, but it should keep your kitten from becoming invested with them.

First of all, as tempting as it is, DO NOT put on more until 4 weeks have past. Otherwise, you could poison your kitten with an overdose, especially with a product like Advantage that gets into the bloodstream.

As other people have said, it doesn't act as a force field against fleas. They have to get on your cat to be exposed to the chemical before it can kill them.

Also, this is a very important step in getting rid of fleas - spray your house! You can't see them (probably), but if they're on your cat, they're on your couch, in your carpet, etc. Get a spray from your vet (he will know which ones work). You and your cat will have to be out of the house for a few hours once you have sprayed because the stuff is definitely toxic, but it is well worth it.

And last, but not least - Never buy any over-the-counter flea medication! It can literally kill your cat (ask you vet about it).

I just recently treated my kitten for fleas. And asked the vet about this. He told me that fleas have 120 day life cycle, so when they bite him they die, and the fleas that are in your house can jump on him too. They stated to reapply the frontline every month for 3-4 months and this will take care of all the fleas on him and in the enviorment. As it is not an overnight solution. More like population control until they are gone. Hope this helped.

Did you rub it into the nape of your kitten's neck well?

I wouldn't recommend another dose just yet, tempting as it is: Kittens can be fragile. But when the next time comes for a new dose of flea repellent, you can try the stuff again. Or you can try Revolution or Front Line. And make sure it gets to the kitten's skin.

Good luck!

did you bath the cat first?? I have been dealing with the same thing. this summer brought out fleas. I think it takes a couple weeks for them all to die off. keep the bedding clean and vacuum alot to get rid of the eggs. with thsi heat they will hatch rapidly. I am combing them every mornign to get rid of the feals. pulled off 25 this morning. I am using revolution. Ive have also sprayed everywhere they lay and washed everything. good luck its a huge pain.
