"the world is firmly established, it cannot be moved."~ This echoes in Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, and Chronicles 16:30.

Now, in todays world very few people will argue that the earth orbits the sun. However it's clearly stated in Psalm 104:5, "[the LORD] set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved." Ecclesiastes 1:5 states that "the sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."

When Galileo Galilei stated that the sun would rise and set, but it was because the earth moved around the sun, it offended the church, and he was forced to recant that idea or fact charges of heracy (most heratics were often killed painfully). Today however, science has proven Galileo to be the one who was correct, but this directly conflicts with the bible.

Since the word of the lord can not be moved, are there people out there who still think that the earth sits stationary on a pillar?

This is an actual arguement from a few hundred years back, and the scripture I quoted was the basis for Galileo having to recant his ideas.

When Christians argue ideas, such as the one below who mentions "Creationism", they are making an arguement based upon what's written in scripture. However, they also rule out theories of creation such as the "Big-Bang" theory and Darwin's Theory of evolution based on scripture.

What I'm looking for are people who will still argue the earth's orbit based on what is written in scriptures.

yes. this website http://www.geocentricperspective.com/ provides both biblical and 'scientific' evidince for a geocentric 'earth centered' universe. It is run by Gerardus D. Bouw, Ph.D.

He is one of the few people who actually deny a heliocentric solar system. even www.answersingenesis.com one of the most rabid fundamental creationist sites on the net believes the earth is a spiritual center of the universe rather than a literal.

Whoa there Sparkey! You get ahead of yourself. 3,000 years before Galileo learned to walk, your well learned science buddies thought the earth DID sit flat on a pillar or a turtle. The Bible however, in Job 26:7 showed it "hung upon nothing" and Isaiah 40:22 said the earth was round.

The world, this earth, is firmly established. No one has the power to destroy it completely.

If the sun wasn't there and we didn't rotate around it then we wouldn't be here.as this world would be a frozen ice planet !
