Mine Was 'til I sold it a Colt Lightweight Sporter with collapsable stock. Now it's an AK47 in .223.

My favorite shotguns are my Remington Model 11's with 18 1/2" barrels.

My favorite handguns are my Llama mini max 2 .45, Ruger Vaquero .44 mag with 4.5 inch barrel and my Taurus Titaniun .44 special anodized electric blue. I love big bore handguns!

coolhandven: I owned two matching, still in the boxes, cva 1861 .36 cal. nickel plated sherrif's models. I gave them to my new nephew when I got married and his roommate stole them and pawned them to pay a $40 dollar light bill. The kicker was that I gave his roomate an 1858 new army with leather at the same time. He pawned it too. The good news is that he broke into a pharmacy last year and O.D.ed on the meds. D.O.A.

censoredbyevil, it is legal, last time I checked, to hunt deer here in Arkansas with a .223. I believe the only requirement is that it be a centerfire rifle round.

Maisie, firearms are not registered in this country unless they are in certain municipalities. Some paperwork is done at the time of purchase but that is kept by the dealer for as long as they are in business. My ex had been raped before we met so I bought her a Rossi 38 snubnose. One time while I was out a just paroled psycho started harrassing her from the courtyard below the apartment then he made his way to the door. It made her so mad after her previous sexual assaults that she retrieved her gun and stuck it in his face. He ran off, right into the arms of the deputy's waiting for him in the parking lot. How's that for a long story. Oh yeah speaking of infamous NYC crimes committed with Charter Arms. What about D. Berkowitz and his Charter Arms .44 special Bulldog.

The one I am dying to own is a Navy .36 ball and cap. Actually, I want two of them. One for each holster.

Love my M-27 Colt. Not only a really cool old gun, I bought it from a great friend. It's a 1911a1 commercial gun that went to Argentina to fill the original shipment on the contract. It's got the Colt serial # with the "C" prefix and is stamped with Argentine numbers as well. The best part is, it made it back without an import stamp.

K-32 Shcmidt-Ruben. What a rifle of an issue gun.
M-1 Carbine
M-1 Garand
Browning Auto 5 12GA.
Fox Sterlingworth 12GA. What a gun

But all time favorite rifle is my fathers old 1903A3. He sporterized it in the 1960's. It's got a Weaver K-4 Scope and has put a lot of meat on the table. Including the very first white tail deer I ever took.

I really loved reading everyone elses answers.

The lack of elegance shown here is appalling! Only coolhandven is displaying a modicum of real elegance. :-P

Coolhandven I've owned and enjoyed a .36 cal M-1851 Navy reproduction for nearly 30 years. I love it. It is one of the best pointing revolvers I own. I recently purchases a .38 SPL caliber Richards-Mason Conversion M-1851. It has the barrel cut to 3" and has no ejector rod. It points as well as my old cap-and-ball Navy Model.

My favorite Rifle, is more like rifles. The top three are:
Browning BLR in .358 Win -the most accurate rifle I've ever owned and one of the most accurate I've ever shot.
Rolling Block Rifle in .45-70 Gov't - wish I had not had to sell my Pedersoli Rolling Block.
Sharps Rifle in .45-110. Don't have one, but lust after them greatly.

Favorite Handgun? Again, my top four favorites.
Colt Single-Action Army (or an Italian copy of same) in .44 S&W SPL.
S&W M-686, 4" barreled .357 Magnum. I've had it 20 years.
S&W M-640, my Always Gun. If I have clothes on, the Always Gun is on my belt, in my sporran or in a pocket.
Colt M-1872 Open-Top Revolver (an Italian copy) in .44 Russian.

My favorite Shotgun? Are there any besides fine doubles?

A.H. Fox, I'd settle for a field grade Sterlingworth with 26" barrels choked Full and Modified, in 12 gauge.
For things-that-go-bump-in-the-*** h t, I have a Mossberg M-500 with an 18.5" Improved Cylinder barrel.

Handgun: Glock Model 19, easy to shoot and carry concealed

Rifle: Winchester M 94 lever action in 44 mag, excellent for home defense :)

Shotgun: Mossberg M 590, this is a very versatile gun, swap barrels & add a plug and go duck hunting, or leave as is for the ultimate defense weapon holds 9 rounds and will shoot 2 3/4 or 3 " mag shells

My favorite pistol is my Glock model 20. The10mm Auto it shoots is awesome and with a 15 round clip it holds enough for half the gangsters on the hood or a pack of coyotes. When Ted Nugent hunts in Africa he carries a Glock 20 for emergencies and killed a charging Cape Buffalo with one shot. It fell 8 feet from him. If it's good enough for Ted it's good enough for me.
My favorite rifle is my stainless steel/synthetic stock Ruger 77 chambered for .223. With my 60 grain Nosler reloads it's amazingly accurate and shoots as flat as my .300 Win. Mag. out to 300 yards. I only wish the .223 was deer legal here. It has as much knock down power as a .30/30, and the laws against it are ridiculous because bullet placement is the deciding factor and a gut shot deer will suffer as slow and painful death with a .30/30 as with a .223.
My favorite shotgun is the camo Remington 870 12 gauge made for turkey hunting. Even though I have 33 guns, I don't have the great 870 yet, but we all need something to dream of so I'll wait a while to get one, that is unless someone who reads this gets really generous this Christmas...

Any of the A series of Beretta Semi Auto Shotguns

Model 70 Winchesters

M1 Garands

M1 Carbines

I shoot cowboy action, so mine are a little different. I like the Heritage Rough Rider big bore in .357 mag, with a 4.75 in barrel. The price is low, and it's made in America. In modern guns, I like the Browning FN in 9mm.

I have a Puma .357 lever action, 16 in. trapper model with the John Wayne D-ring lever, and I love it. It reminds me of my Daisy Red Rider. In a modern gun (or at least more modern) I owned a Moisen-Nagant Russian bolt action from WWII. It was chambered in a cartridge that powerful enough to take any game in North America, and you can get one with a composite stock and scope for $300 or so, depending on what kind of scope you want.

For Shotguns, I like the Stoeger coach guns, but I'm looking for one with hammers right now. For modern guns, I would go with a Mossberg 500. The price is good, and the barrels are easy to swap, which makes it very versatile.

I guess my favorite rifle would be my 1941 M1 Garand, it's all Springfield Armory, but doubt that it's all original, rather a collection of SA parts. The M1 was not perfect, but it remains the most significant battle rifle of the 20th Century, back when soldiers were actually riflemen.

Shotgun, that's easy, a vintage Ithaca Model 37, one of the finest shotguns ever made. Designed by John Browning, of course, of whom I'm a big fan.

Handgun is a pistol, Browning's best pistol, the Hi Power P35. I just picked up my fourth one. It's like the 1911, only with all the shortcoming corrected, including caliber.
