It wouldn't last a month -- one side or the other would get their nose out of joint about the way their people were being protrayed, they'd start a boycott or hate mail campaign, the sponsors would pull out, and that would be that...

With the current love of train wreck TV - no. It wouldn't sell to the public or advertisers if they were to become friends. The only way it would be come a commercial success is if there was strife; think Jerry Springer or its new and more polished variants in the various 'reality TV' shows.

To the underlying question of can Muslim and Christians live next to each other in harmony? Yes - quite easily, as long as they respect each other and are willing to accept the principle of agreeing to disagree as a valid way to end a conversation.

In Canada we have a show called "Little Mosque on the Prairie." It is a comedy and about to start it's second season. It is a bit irreverent and can make both Christian's and Muslim's look a little ridiculous in their prejudices towards one another. It's about a small community trying to accept each others differences with bigots, fanatics and everything in between.
It's an interesting show though fanatic's of either religion would probably find it offensive. I'm a Christian and take no offense but then I'm probably considered liberal.

If I remember correctly there was a show produced by the dude who made "Super Size Me" where he took people and placed them in different situations for a week.

One of the shows was taking a christian and placing them with a muslim family and visa versus.

it could be done quite easily. the two could simply refuse to talk about religion with each other, and it would work. i doubt it would make much of a TV show though. sounds kinda boring.

wouldn't work. it'd just be 1 episode long, and the christian family would be torn into pieces by the bomb the muslim family would give to the christian family hidden in an apple pie.

It would be nice to have all kinds of people represented in popular TV that aren't represented now...and not just via negative stereotypes.
