It depends on the type of chemotherapy, the dosage, and how many days the patient has the therapy. Not all chemo is the same and not all patients respond the same way. Some patients feel no after effects at all and some become really ill.

My son was an inpatient for his first chemotherapy treatment. He had Vincristine, Doxirbucin and Cytoxan over a 5 day period. During the treatment he felt nauseous but once the treatment stopped he felt okay within a few days. His protocol called for high dose chemotherapy over a 9 month period and he spent each cycle as an inpatient. He would than have 21 days off in between the treatment. He reached his life time limit of Doxirubicin and can no longer use that chemo.

Go ahead and call your friend and go on over to visit. That will be the best medicine for her.

best to you

I think that it depends on the drugs given and how you handle things. For me the second day wasn't so bad. It was the third day that seemed the worst with Adriamycin and Cytoxin. Then each day it was a little better until the next chemotherapy (three weeks later) and then I repeated the cycle with the same feelings. I also went through four rounds of Taxol and just felt achy all over but I could handle it.

Usually 48 hours after the chemo shot is the worst. After 4-5 days, you may feel a little bit better.

hi! my first one sucked, i felt sick, was sick ,,,, but 2 days after chemo is better than that night so i felt better knowing the drugs went in 48 hrs ago,,,,, then i gradually started feeling better and better day by day - until you have to do it again,,, and it starts all over again. And counting down treatments feels good too! Couple of days after chemo, still do what you want but take it easy and have an arvy nap and eat and drink well! ... don't expect too much, relaxing peace!

All chemo varies with both side effect and how one feels. Even with the same chemo individual react differently.
That also gone to the treatment and how it works on an individual. There is no one answer.
