I will agree with the sentiment that there should be less of the insults and disrespect of others views common in this forum. Questions and answers which are openly insulting and just plain rude should be removed.
However, I strongly disagree with your assertion that groups should only answer questions from their own groups!
Without debate and the dissenting voice, how do you expect to learn anything? All you will get is a group of people agreeing with each other. The principle of free speech gives the right to voice a dissenting view. What is doesn't give is the right to mock, ridicule and insult.

"will only answer questions from their own group" seems to defeat the purpose of this place, don't you think? I would have to say no on that, because that is the reason I come here... to see different points of views, not just supporting ones. As for asking antagonizing questions, I don't believe I have, so I could follow that one with ease. (I don't ask questions... I mainly read lol)

To an extent. I wouldn't quit answering questions from any particular group but I'd quit putting smart a_s answers. I would honor a truce to quit being such a smart a_s, actually I think I've had my share of answering that way I think I'll change today. Thanks for the motivation.

Would the truce involve religion ceasing to mess people's lives around and attempting to legislate their belief system?
If not, I'm afraid we still have issues.

No.
First, such a thing wouldn't work. People would still answer all questions.
Second, people shouldn't segragate themselves like that. The only way to get a decent discussion is to allow participation among everybody. If you only ask questions of those who believe the same you do, you'll never learn any other point of view. If someone's view is solidly based, they shouldn't care if they are challenged about that view. A person's belief should stand on its own merit.
Some conflict is good. That's how we work things out.

probably not I dont think of it as a truce....
it is annoying arguing with some one of the opposite view but you start to see things from their point
other times I just dont bother
I come here to argue on these topics

Sure. But then this could only devolve into a bible discussion group, a Koran discussion group, and a group debating ethical philosophy (that would be the atheists), with a small contingent talking about Jewish sacred writings. In short, it would be boring.

Never! What would be the point of debate? I would find a different message board somewhere else!
I dare say the conflict is the only reason this holds any fascination for most people.

I don't see this as a war. Questions and answers simply help people to think. We all need our thinking challenged.. That's how we grow.
