Chavez had around 25 fights at Featherweight or lighter, and most of those were against guys with losing records, or indeed, no record at all. By contrast, Gomez moved to Featherweight and was stopped by Salvador Sanchez (who was 40-1-1 and with bags of experience) in 8 rounds to win the Featherweight title, when Chavez was only weighing in around 122. Chavez bulks up to 126 to take the fight, and despite his lack of experience, I think Chavez could stop Gomez in 11. The three times Gomez was beaten, he was stopped in all three 9twice at feather, once at Super Feather). This wouldn't bode well for Gomez, whose peak weight was 122. Can he fill into Feather and take JC's best shots, including the pet left hook to the liver? I don't think so.

Chavez wins by KO in Round 11.

This is a case of the bigger man will beat a smaller man scenario. They are the same height and Julio Ceaser Chavez never fought in the featherweight division but if he did and fight Wilfredo Gomez then I would give this fight to him.

Chavez grew to become right into a slugger in his best. He did no longer run away while he knew he grew to become into triumphing the way De l. a. Hoya did against Trinidad. he will combat to the end line. to coach you the way plenty coronary heart Chavez has, the guy nonetheless gained some fights even after the age of 40. Oscar is 35 now and already he's displaying his age and his unwillingness to win. best vs best, Chavez Sr. could beat Oscar and create a stoppage on the overdue rounds.

If they fought at 122, it would be a no-brainer for Gomez - he was all but unbeatable at that weight. I think he lost his first fight and then knocked out like his next 31 opponents before stepping up against Sanchez. Gomez is the only one to ever slightly stun Sanchez (who probably had the best chin of any small fighter). I say Gomez puts an early end to the Chavez legend and takes him out in 8 rounds.

As great as Gomez was, Chavez would walk thru him. JCC by KO round 4, via use of a thoroughly destructive body attack.
