I'm getting married in December in Sri Lanka. We are marrying inland beside a lake with a rainforest and mountains as the background rather than by the ocean. I'm not sure what to wear, its going to be about 20 deg C and there are traditional girls and drummers there.

Heres the thing, I'm not fussed on the whole white/ivory dress concept, I think gold would be lovely and special. I think it will go with my golden blonde hair which I will wear down curly.

I am size 12 on the bottom, size 16 on the top. I have a big bust, big belly, no bum and skinny arms and legs. I am quite fair skinned and blue eyed.

What do you think, would it be suitable?

If you have a large bust, then an empire waist is not for you. You need to give yourself the illusion of a waist and take the attention away from your bust and belly. Go with a dress that has capped sleeves or spaghetti straps to show off your skinny arms.

The dress is beautiful though do make sure you go see it in the store as advised above.
The other option I saw at a couple of weddings in Sri Lanka is to get a sari there. One german girl I met there married in a stunning forest green and gold sari, she told me it cost 200 euros. A sari is a great way to disguise a belly as it just skims over. The blouse can be designed to minimise or maximise your bust.
Your idea to avoid white and ivory is great as most peoples wedding pictures end up looking the same.

I think that is a beautiful dress! But I think for your wedding, maybe go with something a tad more formal? I saw this dress on that site & think it's VERY pretty.

It's gold like you wanted, not too big or heavy that you would sweat to death in, and it looks like it could give you some great curves. I have a similar figure and know that that dress would add some butt, minimize the belly, & play up your chest without showing too much.

Good luck & congratulations!
It sounds like it will be a BEAUTIFUL wedding!

I think it would look stunning, it is not a tight fitting dress at all and because you say have skinny arms it won't look like logs hanging out from your dress.
It would look very pretty with your blond curls hanging down as well.....
Go for the dress I think you will be a beautiful bride.
Congrats on the wedding

i like it - its a lovely dress, but i would consider it more for a second wedding really - if this is to be your one and only wedding dress i think i would want something a bit more special - sorry. I like the idea mentioned above that you go for a sari - a traditional red one with gold detail might be just the thing :)

Good luck whatever you decide and congratulations

That dress is lovely hunni, I really like it and the price is much more reasonable than what you would pay for a traditional wedding dress - you could also wear it again for another occasion -

Good luck and enjoy your day!!

Oh my god, that is just stunning! It's absolutely beautiful, perfect for what you have in mind, I like it so much I'm gonna go buy one for me!!! Good choice, elegant, and gorgeous, my bridesmaid is similar sizing to you and Monsoon dresses are very flattering, the only thing I would say it go see it in the shop as sometimes (not always) Monsoon colours are not true to life on their website, I looked at some of their dresses for my bridesmaid and found that the creams can look much darker in the flesh. It's just beautiful, you'll look amazing.

I love that dress. It is beautiful! It sounds like you are going to a very memorable wedding! Don't worry about what anyone else says, this is your day. Make it one that you will never forget! And I think that your hair down in curls will be gorgeous! Congrats on the wedding and remember it is YOUR day!!!

Wow. That dress is quite brilliant! The dress you picked out will fit in with your tropical theme and setting. However, considering your dress is not as fancy as most wedding gowns make sure your Wedding is not a black tie affair.

Im gunna be dead honest here, i didn't like the dress and i think you should continue to look for a dress. What i didn't like about it was i didn't think it was very wedding like more for like a fancy dress, soz to be blunt like this but from you say about the island it sounds beautiful and so should your dress!
