Look in the dictionary of most languages. Sin basically means without. --
For openers, sin means to be without compassion. The result: If we have no compassion for others, they will have no compassion for us.
The ultimate example of sin is not necessarily the killing of other people, sure that is a sin most if not always. The absolute epitome of "sin" is illustrated when a person enjoys causing problems for other people.
An example of "sin" here on R/S is when a person enjoys or callously reports another member in the hopes that that member will lose his Yahoo account.

Well to be perfectly rational about it and against my will, I protestingly say, if you break the laws of physics, the mind, reason, social laws and quantum physics, which explains miracles as having laws too, if you break those laws things will not work or may be harmful to your health and/or sanity. That's the effect. Sin is error. It's strict. Even an error in calculation could be risky business so get it right. You have to know how to work a calculator or a mind or something.That's all you asked so I guess that's all folks. luv Oh, like hate only hurts you and those around you and not your enemy. Actually you are your own worst enemy at that point so it hurts you and your immune system, heart and all that.

The reality of sin is defined by each of us. Therefor, essence and effect will vary with the individual.

Very nice question. We are subject to the consequences of our beliefs. To have a belief is to expect the things of the belief to happen. This is no different than asking for them to happen. Believe in sin and feel separated from God. Let go of the idea that you can be guilty and you will know yourself and God simultaneously. Examine your belief structures and see which ones hurt you and which ones lead you on to something more than the belief itself.

Death. That's sin.

consequences! You eat too much you become fat. If you do harmful drugs you harm the body. Yet, if you choose to learn from mistakes then you gain knowledge.
