A very significant event in the Christian doctrine is the Crucifixion of Jesus. Before talking about the many controversies surrounding the Crucifixion, it should be mentioned that it was a gospel of Paul’s which professed the Crucifixion/Resurrection of Jesus (II Timothy 2:8):
"Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel."

It was the same gospel that Jesus himself announced and that Paul was taught by Jesus and that all of the other apostles taught too.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. 10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Gospel is a word that literally translates "Good News."

Paul shared the "Good News" of Christ's death and resurrection as well if not more effectively than most of the other apostles.

who...the sanhedrin...they held two illegal (by Mosaic law) trials, used illegal witnesses (again, Mosaic law), and held the trial at night (also illegal with Mosaic law). As these were the men that were supposed to be upholding Torah (Law), they clearly wanted Jesus.

as for "according to my gospel", isn't he ony saying' "according to the good news I brought?"

"Gospel" means message. Nothing esoteric about the word.

The details are a following:

5.19) Jews Plan Reverted By God As Requested By Jesus (pbuh):

But the faith of Islam came with views quite different from that of the extant gospels with regards to both the end of Jesus (peace be upon him) and his nature. The Glorious Qur'an affirms that Allah the Exalted did not permit the people of Israel to kill Jesus (peace be upon him) or crucify him. What happened was that Allah saved him from his enemies and raised him to heaven. They never killed Jesus; they killed someone else.

Bible Barnabas is giving clear account of the events that before all this happened to Judas (face changed like teacher), Jesus (peace be upon him) was taken to the heaven by angels. He was disturbed all the day and he told his friend that one of his friends will cheat him. Bible Mathew and Luke tell us:

"… and began to be sorrowful and very depressed. Then saith he unto them, 'my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death' …"
"And he went a little further, and fell on his face (like Muslim bend in prayer), and prayed, saying, 'O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt."
(Bible; Mathew 26: 37-39)

"And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was, as it were, great drops of blood falling down to the ground." (Bible; Luke: 22-44

And the kind God (The All-Mighty) listened, his request and lifted him to his heaven, and punished his cheating friend in his place. Judas Iscariot just for a little money spied about his presence. When disciple were eating 'Last Supper' Jesus dismissed Judas with the words, "…What thou doest, do quickly."

When he entered in the place of his stay, he started looking for Jesus (peace be upon him) while guiding Roman soldiers. Bible John tells: "Judas then having received a Band of Men' and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh there with lanterns and torches and weapons." (Bible; John 18-3).

Since, they were not aware of the face of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him). He entered first and it was dark time. When he entered his face was changed like his Master. All disciples said that you are yourself Lord. But he continued looking, but Roman soldiers became sure that all disciples are calling this person Lord and they capture him. That is why it is reported that he did not speak clearly that he is Jesus and Jews and Roman soldiers joked with him and put and crown of thorns and wrote jokingly "THE KING OF JEWS" on the cross.

In start of search by Romans disciples were asleep. Bible Mathew gives account about this- "What could ye not watch with me for one hour?" – (Mathew 26-40). And it is also mentioned in Bible Mark- "And again he (Jesus) went away, and prayed, and spoke the same words. And when he returned, he found them asleep again…" – (Mark 14:39-40). And when Jesus asked them angrily then they could not give proper reply, Bible Mark tells- "neither knew they what to answer him", - (Mark 14:40).

And their sleep is further confirmed from the following verse of Bible Luke: "And when he (Jesus) rose from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for Sorrow." – (Luke 22:45) And when they awoke suddenly after arrival of Roman soldiers they ran away. Bible Mark tells- "All his disciples forsook him and fled" (Bible:Mark 14:50). Then Barnabas narrates that angels took him to the heaven through ventilator opening. He viewed this site. Mary, his mother was very sad and after some days he returned and spoke with his mother and friends about him and left. Then his mother became contented about his well being. And about his ascension Bible John says - "What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? (Bible John 6:62)

And when disciple knew that Jesus (peace be upon him) was alive they could not believe- "And they (the disciples), when they heard that he was Alive, and had been seen by her (Mary Magdalene), they believed not."– (Mark 16:11) And when his disciples knew then full of excitement, the two disciples rushed up to that upper room, where the other disciples were:- "And they went and told it unto the residue (of the disciples), neither believed them."

And when we read books; all of those told us that he was alive not resurrected. See Bible Luke:
a) Mary Magdalene testifies that Jesus is alive
b) The disciples from Emmaus testify that he is alive
c) Angels said that he is alive (Luke 24:23)

Bible Luke verify this point – "Two men that stood by told the women "Why seek ye the living among the dead?" That he is alive" -(Luke 24:4-5) And when his disciple see him they feel him as a sprit - "But they were terrified and affrighted and supposed that they had seen a spirit."-(Luke 24:37) Then Jesus (peace be upon him) himself says - "Behold (have look at) my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for A Spirit has no flesh and bones, as you see me have.… And he showed them his hands and his feet."-(Luke 24:39-40) The reason for this discussion was not that these gentle and truthful disciples, were not believing in him. Reason is only that they have information of superficial situation of his been captured by soldiers and crucified.

And also God gave symbol for this idea in Old Testament; Deuteronomy 21:23 tells that, "His body (any crucified person) shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day, (for he that is hanged is accursed of God), that thy land be not defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance". Jesus (peace be upon him), such a pious prophet, can never be cursed - for any reason. You see logic of God, there was no need to write this sentence in a heavenly book, He (God) just mentioned for His future plan. And even after His mentioning it long before, we devised the idea of atonement. For which he never knew and never mentioned. And He (Jesus) being the only Son of God was not aware of God's plan to sacrifice. And He was in agony and praying to God, it is not sacrifice just murder even if a person believes this event. And sacrifice for Adam's original sin and salvation looks strange when we read the bible itself telling him a son of God.

23) Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli.
..….
38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. (please read-Bible:Luke 3:23-38)

Major Yeats-Brown, in his, "Life of a Bengal Lancer", summarise the Christian Doctrine of the Atonement in just a single sentence: "No heathen tribe has conceived so grotesque a idea, involving as it does the assumption, that man was born with a hereditary stain upon him: and that this stain (for which he was not personally responsible) was to be atoned for: and that the Creator of all thing had to sacrifice his only begotten son to neutralize this mysterious curse."

And when we think about this atonement, many Great Prophets; Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and other left this world un-atoned! Here we will take account is some verses on the topic of Jesus (peace be upon him).

Allah the Almighty declared about his saving Jesus from killing in the following verses of Sura An-Nisaa:And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah Jesus, son of Mary the Messenger of Allah,"-but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of Jesus was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not (i.e. Jesus, son of Mary): But Allah raised him (Jesus) up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, all- Wise. And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him (Jesus-son of Mary as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being), before his (Jesus or a Jew's or a Christian's) death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death) and on the Day of Resurrection, he (Jesus) will be a witness against them.(Quran: Surah 4: 157-159)

And God has promised special reward for true believers in the following verse of Sura Al-i-Imran: And (remember) when Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you (of the forged statement that Jesus is Allah son) of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Torah, the Gospel, the Qur'an) till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute. (Quran: Surah 3: 55)
