people ask questions like:

"how much will my tattoo hurt?"

and

"how much will it cost?"

i feel that if the tattoo has meaning (which it should have otherwise you'll probably regret it later) and it's something that you truly, truly want on your body forever, then you'll get it regardless of the pain and cost.

mikey's girl: you can't give an honest answer to those questions because the cost of a tattoo varies so much depending on where you get it, who the artist is and obviously, how big and detailed the tattoo is and everyone's pain tolerance is different so you can't tell someone "oh it's going to hurt this much..." thank you for proving my point on that one! ...and for the record, i don't give a sh*t if you THINK you have a better pain tolerance than me. big deal!?! that has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

HB- i agree with you as well. perhaps they did get verbal instructions, but didn't pay attention? im not sure. my artist gave me verbal instructions and a business care with written instructions on the back of it.

i agree, cost varies wildly depending on a bunch of factors, location, artist, intricacy, colors, whether they charge for the piece or by hour. And there is NO WAY to determine pain, especially since it varies depending on where you get the tat. I got one on my hip, almost no pain, got one on my ribcage, extremely painful. If it's going to be somethign you love, it's worth it! (i agree with you on the comment to mikey's girl too!)

also, wouldn't it be nice if people looked at old answers, since the "how much will it hurt/cost" question has been asked approxamately a thousand times?

I agree with you about "if the tattoo has meaning....then you'll get it regardless of the pain or cost"

What I don't understand is the number of people asking about aftercare ~ what to put on a new tattoo, whether to keep it covered or not, etc.

I find it hard to believe that the artist who did their tattoo didn't give them any aftercare instructions and info. If the artist didn't, then why didn't they ask these questions before they left the shop?

Not really annoying just a hard question to answer. I'm in Tx i can not answer how much will this cost to someone who is in a totally different state. And as far as pain that varies just as much as cost pain is different for everyone.
Like you said it shouldn't;t matter but some people are nervous about the pain but no one can really answer till you go through with it.

I have completely lost patience for those types of questions - I think yahoo should do more work on the sections and list FAQ's - the top 10 at least, when you open each of the sections. It is easy enough to develop a consensus on those answers. Then we would have the pain questions, price questions, aftercare questions taken care of at least!

I simply won't answer pain and price questions anymore - there are some who respond to questions all day long on tattoo and don't even have any let alone DO them.

Regarding gidawg23, pay no attention to his response - he never ever has answered on the tattoo section before so his comment doesn't even merit a response to him. He has no past history of seeing and answering these things hundreds of times over.

This is very similar to a question I posted a few days ago......http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhdNOXLFhFHyKruwkS3Fei7sy6IX?qid=20070813144828AAtPjEm
Here are some of the responses I got.

Personally the more annoying question is "what should I get?" If you don't know what you want, don't get it! If you just want an idea, there are sites for that... do your own research, we don't know who you are or what you like.

Not really. What's annoying is answering 'I don't know' to both questions.

I have a very high tolerance for pain so what hurts you probably won't hurt me.
