Some pretty cool people - Aussies :D

And me, but I'm an Aussie so I'm counted in that category.

And Aussies come in all shapes and sizes with origins based in countries from all over the world.

PS. If you mean Baum's Land of Oz (i.e. The Wonderful Wizard of...) and not Australia you shouldn't have asked this question in the Austrailia section...

"I know that people do use OZ when talking about Australia. But it would be nice if you would call it by its proper name"

"Oz" has been used as an affectionate name for Australia for about 40 years. A satirical magazine in London called "Oz" was launched in the 1960s by Richard Neville and others. Barry Humphries wrote a comic strip "The Adventures of Barry Mckenzie" for the magazine. The name was transferred to Australia from that time and was endorsed when our great playwright, David Williamson, named a play about Sydney "Emerald City". "Oz" is well established as a name for Australia and most Australians have no objection to its use. It carries with it some of the larrikin attitude of the old magazine.

ME! Southern New South Wales here

And It is AUST or AUSTRALIA by the way.

I know that people do use OZ when talking about Australia. But it would be nice if you would call it by its proper name.

(OZ is ok as a slang but if you say "land of" then it is NOT "Oz" - that's in a movie)
