Well, technically you are correct. No POWs, since this is an insurgent war instead of a formal declared war. And we've been taking extraordinary steps to ensure that no Soldiers are left behind.

Unfortunately, some of our Soldiers **have** been taken prisoner by the insurgents. Few are being "held", though, because the insurgents usually torture their hostages for a few days, then videotape their beheading. Not sure this is a really great trade-off.

I dont know how true your statement is. I am a soldier currently serving in Iraq, and i know for a fact that we have soldiers that have been captured and are still being held. about 4 months ago, 4 sodliers from 10th mountain division were captured. 2 of them were killed and found floating down the tigris river. the other two are still missing, one of them is a good friend of mine. They may or may not be dead. all we can do is pray for the best. But i do know that our enemy would much rather cut our heads off, so which is better, being a POW, or having bbeing decapitated???

No official Prisoners of War but we do have a few missing in action. If they execute those they capture before they say they have them we would not have any; don't see where that is actually that great. None of Custer's men were taken as POW's at the Little Big Horn but that didn't reflect the military or Custer having it together.

that is so untrue. american soldiers are still being taken as POW's it just doesnt get all the media attention because so many of our soldiers are getting killed everyday. a very good friend of mine was a POW in iraq a year ago, thank God he was released, but it does still happen.

There have been POW's. There are a few guys missing they have no idea where they are but they know the enemy was involved. I can think of 3 cases of the top of my head.
But usually they just behead prisoners, I'l take POW thank you.

I think we are missing two with another MIA from Gulf War 1 (although I believe him to be dead.)

Still, a pretty amazing stat.

Honestly, the enemy doesn't hold POW's. They hold hostages that they can use to release videos on Al-Jazeera.
