Slavery is wrong.

Most people today agree, that is except for much of the Islamic world. The reason why the vast majority of the Islamic world doesnt believe slavery is wrong is because Muhammad owned slaves.

Many people get this issue confused. For example, people who arent intelligent enough to understand the implications often say "Ohh Christians had slaves, lots of em!" or "everyone had slaves, big deal".

Let me clarify for people who arent very bright. In Islam, EVERYTHING Muhammad did stands as the perfect standard of human conduct for all humans to model...forever (that includes today and tommorow). Muslims take this very seriously, ever wonder why they grow beards or wipe their "end" with their bare hand...yep...its about modeling Muhammad to please Allah.

So the reason why you will sooner find theJimmy Hoffa than find a Muslim who condemns slavery outright, is because Muhammad owned slaves, as Muslims still do today.

What's most interesting about the question is the self deception practiced by Muslims in the answers.

The last country in the world to officially abolish slavery was the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in 1964!

Saudi Arabia did not legally abolish slavery until 1962.

However, even these acts did not ACTUALLY abolish slavery which is known to continue in almost every Muslim country in the world.

Historically, Muslim Arabs began taking black slaves from Africa long before European Christians did and maintained the trade long after the Europeans had abandoned it.

Indeed, the simple, indisputable historical fact is that European Christians led the way in recognizing the evil of slavery and working to abolish it.

Slavery would still be flourishing in the Muslim world if European Christians had not used their power and influence to suppress the slave trade (When you hear Muslims complain about being abused by Christian colonialists remember this is one of the "abuses" they are complaining about...they were forced to give up their slaves)

Even as I write this, Arab Muslims are taking Christian and Animist Blacks from Darfur as slaves. Muslims from Mauritania are raiding their southern neighbors and taking slaves.

These are not mere opinions but clearly documented and all but universally recognized facts (the deniers are all Muslims) published by internationally recognized and respected organizations including the United Nations.

Jesus we love him being a true prophet of God, was a poor man and was never able to keep slaves but all his family was having slaves and he never spoke against this.

As far prophet Mohammad SAW is concerned he was a strong and rich person. He was having slaves but he told to treat the slaves like brothers not like Amercans who treated them like donkeys. Anad and Zaid were his slaves. It is told by them that he never became angry with them nor spoke a hard word through out his life. He declared Zaid as his son before all public. He was eating with or after his slaves. And if he really left those slaves, they were homeless people. Where they go and from where they will eat. He told if u r angry with a slave let him go do not punish him. All friends of prophet were called his black slave Bilal "Oh our lord". His mothers slave Baraka, all his life he called her mother and treated in the same way.

Mohammad SAW was a perfect model of life. We are proud of our model can any one show a perfect model like him showing guidance in all spheres of life.

We love Jesus but what u tell about his life, born, gave life, food for many people and crucified, where is his message for life, rights, share in property, govern and be governed, friends dont speak about the things which u dont know.

The blinds cannot see the light even it is blindingly strong light.

We all come from a barbaric past, we shouldn't blame each other based on what ethnic backround we came from. And no, Jesus didn't own slaves. Only Romans could own slaves in the Roman Empire, not that he would have anyway.

I could spin the same around and put it on Christians and Jews.

Timothy McVeigh in 1995 killed 168 people in the Oklahoma Bombings, In 1993, 77 members of the Branch Davidian Christian sect perished in the Waco siege, including at least 20 innocent children.

Eric Robert Rudolph planted bombs at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, two abortion clinics and a gay nightclub to advance his religious ideology. In 1978, Reverend Jim Jones killed more than 900 of his followers by giving them a cyanide-laced drink in northern Guyana.

The Sabra and Shatila massacre was carried out by the by Lebanese Maronite Christian militias at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, while the Israeli military guarded the exits and continued to provide flares by night. Or the hundreds of Refugees killed by Israeli militry in Jenin.

And I could say that almost all the conflicts worldwide are Christians and Jewish!
