And do you hate it when you receive pretentious, holier than thou answers?

No. I don't hate people for using words. I try not to hate people at all.

I do dislike people who are nasty. Hate, is hard for me to generate. Although I could be persuaded to if people keep saying "At the end of the day" every chance they get.

No, that doesn't bother me at all. It's just another way for them to say that they agree.

I do hate holier than thou attitude though.

It doesn't bother me... I think this is an example of how trends evolve language. It seems to me that we, as a society, are constantly changing the use of words as if to present a fashionable and up-to-date image. Consider how we accepted the use of "really," "dude," "far out," "cool," "chillin.'" You get my meaning... so it doesn't bother me any more than other trends, like clothes, hairstyles or shoes (although, the pointy, in-the-corner-cockroach-killer shoes bug me!). :-)

I don't know why but that really bothers me too. It's like they are using that word instead of yes (or in most cases yeah) to sound more intellegent or more certain about their convictions.

EXACTLY!

lolz. couldn't resist.
i'm sometimes irked by people using dollar words to make comments seem to have more substance--because of course it their answer has to be right since they can use such big words (incorrectly, most likely)

no i think it's creative.. using the same words over and over can get very lame... but if someone over used that word it would bother me a bit.
