Metatron is more of a title than anything. It refers to Enoch and his journey to heaven. Its a Hebrew corruption of the Greek word "metathronos", meaning 'one who stands after or behind the throne'. It had to be differentiated from the Hellenistic term "synthronos", meaning 'one who is with the throne' or 'sharing enthronement', because that would connote equality (with God).

In Hebrew mysticism is believed that Enoch was transformed into an angelic being of the highest order during his journey. Anyone who hasn't read the Book of Enoch should in my opinion. The Ethiopian version is the oldest one. It was banned for a long time and is one of the texts included in the Dead Sea Scolls discovered at Qumran.

Metatron is one of the most important angels in the heavenly hierarchy. He is a member of a special group that is permitted to look at God's countenance, an honor most angels do not share. In the literature, Metatron is often referred to as "the Prince of the Countenance."

He was the angel responsible for speaking the words of God. Had God spoken to a human directly his chest would cave in and his head would explode (it took them 5 Adams before they realised that apparently).

He's commonly known as the Voice of God.

No he's not a transformer, that's Megatron, there's a G in there.
