But she knows how to contact me at my workplace, if she wants to.

Clarifications : She rejected me in-person but kept harping about "being just friends ... nothing more" 5 times in 4 weeks until I'm hurt too much by those words.

i dont understand changing your number unless she stalking you or somthing. I would not have said "the ball is your court" if I was planning to change my number and all.
*EDIT*
If thats the case then i understand what you are saying. She just wants friendship but if you dont feel she is being honest then it might be best to just leave it alone

Rather than texting her this important message, wouldn't it have been more effective to speak to her face to face? I say this because it sounds as though you would like to keep seeing her ("the ball is in her court" gives her the final say on whether or not you will be friends again) If that's the case, why change your number. You have given her the option of coming back to you, yet you have changed your home number...pretty drastic- and confusing.

Think seriously about it...is this a friendship worth saving? If you truly feel that it is, get together and talk with her. A text is an easy way out, and I believe that if you were having a relationship she deserved more in the way of 'goodbye' than a confused text message with mixed ideas.

I hope things work out how you want.

I think breaking up with someone by text or leaving them a message on the answering machine is not right. It's like chickening out.It would be alot better to call her and tell her it is over then running away.

its backwards for you to say " you need to come to me" then changing ur number. also i think hiding is really immuture and so are text breakups. i mean she's already going to be torn up and texting is so cold

oooooh got it! i would say then it was a pretty good idea
