Me and my wife hold student visa at the time my daughter born in July 2007. I know that she's not granted for an Australian Citizenship unless one of us is either citizen or permanent resident.

But i heard that when my daughter turn 18, she will be eligible for a permanent resident status, straight away?

No. But they may change the laws again by the time your daughter turns 18 (they're getting tighter now).

If your daughter was born in Australia and you were not citizens or held PR at the time the only thing your daughter is entitled to is an Australian Birth Certificate.

If you are thinking of staying in Australia until your daughter is 18 it would be better if you applied for citizenship or at least permanent residence because at least you would have access to health care or such.

In any case notify the embassy of your nationality that your daughter was born. She may need a passport if you quickly need to leave the country.

Ask the Immigration Office of Australia to know the requirements of your child to become a citizen in their country.
