what is that thing called that lets you watch other computer screen from another computer in the house and display a message on the screen i have a laptop with windows xp media editon and a windows vista desktop that i use and i have my computer running through a wireless router can you tell me how to get this for free and what it is called

It's called "Remote Desktop". I've never had any use for it, and it is considered a big security risk, so I don't know precisely how it works. But you might want to read this, from Microsoft:
