The converter, part# 52121291AA is about $764.00 m.s.r.p. The labor to install it may be a couple of hours, depending on where you live the labor rate will vary.

OK first it should be covered by the federal 8 year 80,000 mile emission warranty that every manufacturer must adhere to. Second it will not add horsepower if you gut it or remove it. It will sound different, but your cars PCM is calibrated to run the engine with the converter intact. If its missing or damaged (gutted) it will still try to run the same as it did before. Third a decent mechanic would never do this because of the heavy fines handed out for altering or replacing a known good converter.

Yea I miss my 2001 Hemi truck, when I drove it it speed up so fast that it can outrun most cars and trucks even matching corvettes. The thing is it eats up a lot of gas! Once I fill up the tank like $40 (it was in 2002 when gas was like $1.89 damn Bush) drove it to Galveston I stay in Houston and when I came back it was already 1/4 of gas tank! I had it for show but for you it appears you needed for work so I would consider getting a regular V8 standard. The hemi I trade it for a turbo diesal ram 2500

Your truck has an additional oxygen sensor after the cat to monitor it's effectiveness. Gutting the cat or removing it will activate your check engine light.

If yours is bad, take it to a dealer. It should be covered as Chrysler extended the warranty on many truck cats a couple years ago.

If you'd rather just buy one, expect to pay big bucks. Cheap cats don't hold up as well nor do they work as efficiently.
