It's an interesting question and I think it could be. What drives the movement of life is desire, and although desire is defined and the search for fulfillment happens in nearly infinite ways, this desire is, at it's root, the desire for Wholeness and to escape the fear brought about by our apparent separateness.
Of course, the conscious reason for the suicidal urge would be this escape, but there could also be a sense that this separate individuality isn't the truth of our being; that perhaps it's not so easily ended.

Suicidal urges are common and occur once in the life of everybody. They are nothing to do with the need for realisation. They are usually the result of an emotional upset, mental illness, or a demonic provocation.

There comes a point, usually in our youth, but not always, when we are faced with more troubles than it seems we can handle. The joy is gone, the future is bleak, and the misery great. There is little to sustain us at these moments, and many people do kill themselves or engage in destructive acts. Some find God.
If somehow, you get through these vulnerable moments and get to the other side, you often gain immunity from future set backs and disappointments.
We were not put here to needlessly suffer and die. Try to ground yourself and find a trustworthy adviser to help you through this difficult time.
Then, you can help others to get through their difficult times, especially sociopaths. You see, it all works out. :)

I once (in my youth) seriously contemplated suicide. I used to think up of ways to do this. Eventually after a night of crying and severe depression I found myself on the rooftop of my parent's house and was about to jump off. It was a good 40ft height. It was then I had a revelation of sorts. I thought I heard a voice in my head saying that if I do this then you will condemn 100's of 1000's of people to the same fate. You have to be a source for them and overcome your sorrows.
I was watching a TV show recently about the holocaust of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki A-bomb and the tales of the survivors. They suffered so much. One of the survivors were recounting her story about her sister who killed herself by standing in front of a speeding train after many months of suffering and emotional loss of her parents. She said she tried to do the same but couldn't. At the last minute she stepped aside. I remember her words clearly. "There are two kinds of courage, the courage to die and the courage to live. I guess I didn't have the courage to die..." She lived through her suffering and lived to tell others of the horrors of war.
I don't know if I answered you question but I did have a revelation that day.
Thanks for reading

Be forewarned, the ego would rather physically die than allow you to ignore its peculiar existential fears. Dissect it until it can no longer force you to FEEL its distorted belief system.
