Ok, so you've payed of your debts, you've bought a new house, a new car, moved away from the annoying neigbours, got 3 swimming pools, a trampalene and a pony called spack, you've got your holiday home in the bahamas, sent your kids to uni, bought your family all nice homes and nice cars, bought some property, including a nice pub in the country which is being ran by a buxome land lady, and you've set up your dream business. But would you be happy?

I would be excited and overwhelmed, but riches can not bring inner peace and joy. In fact I know of a family who won a million dollars on a game show back in the early '80s.
They were happy to have the money, but they also admitted that there was stress with ownership.
However, if a smart person were to win the lottery, he or she would use that money to work hard for them. With proper investment, the lottery earnings could be used to build a small empire instead of buying a bunch of toys. ( toys = cars, jewlery, clothes, shoes crap, crap and more crap).
The first thing I would do would be to become an equity investor in a large casino hotel resort in Macau, China or Hong Kong. I would also invest in high value stock or exclusive stocks. Stocks that are in the ten or hundred thousands per share. I would also snatch up a ton of foreclosure houses in the mortgage industry. If after I invested correctly and I still had some substantial cash, I would purchase a dependable car, a valuable house and I would
donate a lot to specific charities.
But as far as jewlery or clothes or other crap, I would take care of my family and then just live my life letting the money work for me. I would find my happiness from a Higher Source other than money.

well yes for a while, after living the life of luxury
and then packing ur job in because of the money uve won
and having to change ur lifestyle completly and probably move away from your country (depends on area e.tc)
then no you would sorta miss how you used to live
you wouldnt get the anxiety each wednesday and saturday sitting on edge with ur ticket in ur hand praying and having all ur fingers and toes crossed that today will be your lucky ticket....
and then its over in a minute cos u never won
winning will take that away u wudnt need to put it on anymore
yh. you would be set for life with the winnings - and yh you could do all the things you wanted to do
i.e pay of debts
send kids to uni
by a big new house pay of the mortgage and live in ur own home
no longer be in areas
theres loads things u can do that wud make u happy
but deep down you will sorta miss the old lifestyle
however a home with a swimming pool indoor, and a massive trampoline, and many other home delights would not make u think of the last home u were in though :P

I am happy now so winning the lottery would be nice and allow me to do lots of things I want to but would not make be essentially any happier than I am now. If you were miserable before you won it I think it would make your life more bearable but would not necessarily give it any more meaning or proper, solid happiness.
To be honest though I would be the happiest person alive if I had a pony called Spack! I could live in a cardboard box but if I had a Spack I would be happy!

Well, not much happier so than I am now.
I would be busy, though, since looking after that kind of money can be a job in itself.
What I would do is buy a building lot in a nearby city and build a demonstration solar optimum straw bale house with a living roof, then hold tours so people can see what this building technology is all about.
And being able to convince folks this is a good idea would give me much pleasure.
With enough money, I could even set up a couple of schools to train people to build the various types of buildings that are appropriate for their environment and climate.
Obviously, winning a lottery can be like buying a job... :-)

yes, i wouldn't have any financial problems. But if i have everything i ever wanted, id be miserable because their would be nothing to work towards. Life would be boring because their would be no obstacles to overcome. I mean going on holiday, privet jets all sound wonderful, but their is more to life then money. I like having ups and downs we have, it makes me and my boyfriend stronger together, it makes us normal.
I wouldn't want to have all that money, i would rather give the money away so it could change peoples life for the better.
I would buy a house for us, pay off our debts and put 10 grand in an account for when my daughters 21. But thats it

That depends on the person. Happiness is inside, no amount of money can give it. A wise saying is that the richest man who had everything was msierable and the tramp who had nothing, was the happiest man in the world. In other words, it is not iwse to be materialistic when it can all go in an instant..

Most definitely. I've struggled to make ends meet most of my adult life, have a ten year old car, no social life, the clothes I wear to work I would have to wear if I am invited out (which is just as well I can't afford to go out), haven't had a holiday abroad or anywhere since 2002. Need I go on.

Sure I would.
I'd be able to buy a house with land and get away from my noisy b******d neighbours and I'd let my existing house to the noisiest family I could find as revenge.
