I really want to know why so many people think that homosexuals are hurting people and are a threat to society. I've never seen one cause harm, not ever. Think of this--

--They adopt kids that need homes...kids that people fight abortion to save, but refuse to take in.
--Gay couples can't have their own kids, they help stop overpopulation.
--They don't judge people for being different, as they know how it feels to be judged.
--Rarely will a gay person cause a war...that's for the most part politics and religion's doing.
--Think of all the harm straight people have done, then try to equal that in any harm you think a gay person has done to the world.

I really want to know exactly what a gay person can do to hurt you, because I've never seen it. I don't need the "it's a sin" or "it's unnatural" arguements, I need a real answer of what harm they are, because I'm just not seeing it.

Try to be nice, no rude answers (you know who you are, Dr D) and really think about this.

And please, no "corrupting the sanctity of marriage" or anything either. That does not affect you, and if you ignored it you wouldn't have to worry about it. Why are gays such a threat?

And please tell me nothing from an ancient book, since there's no proof for it.

I see nothing wrong with two people in love, and I've seen plenty of straight loveless marriages.

I'm looking for stuff that personally affects nd harms you, not something that may or may no have happened. You can't just say things that are generalized, because that just seems to be showing hate...

Johnny Appleseed-- straight people have more affected with HIV/AIDS than gay people. No to mention, but unless you're getting black market blood, there's very little risk of getting HIV from it. It's a legal thing taht blood HAS to be tested.

Straight people have and give the sme diseases that gay people can. There's no difference.

Oh, and everyone else...straight couples practice sodomy more than gay couples do.

I think it's funny that people assume I'm gay, I'm not. I fight for the rights of my brother-in-law to marry who he loves-- noe be forced ot be restricted. I said no using the Bible as proof of sin simply because the US is not just a Christian country.

Chris R-- Thank you. I don't agree with you in the least, but you did give me the honest answer I was looking for. Thumbs up.

People are afraid of differences and of change. And with most people, fear shows as anger. Society takes out their aggression on those undeserving.
The people who are truly violating the sanctity of marriage are those who beat and control their spouses and those who commit adultry. those people are the real problem.
I have never known anyone to suffer mental or physical anguish because they know 2 men who love eachother.

there is nothing wrong with homosexuals..... they make the world more abstract and interesting. It takes all kinds to make the world go round.

* and to the people who believe that only homosexuals spread AIDS... why dont you get your facts straight.... there are more 'heterosexuals' than homosexuals that have AIDS and other STDs... and if your friends were stupid enough to be playing with sharp objects.. then guess what.. its their own damned fault..

before you start pointing out others' faults... take a good hard look in the mirror and fix the ones you find there before trying to 'fix' someone else

*and those who say 'oh its a sin.. theyre going to hell... God said homosexuality is wrong'.... well GUESS WHAT!
it was also said "He who is free of sin, may cast the first stone." !!!

Every person on this earth commits some type of sin... being lazy, cursing, putting yourself before others, gluttony... because you know the majority of this world is waayyyy overweight......... so who the hell are you to judge someone based on their sexual preference....

First of all, you're asking people for their opinions, then trying to restrict what they can say as their reasons. That's not fair. For many people, 'it's a sin' is a very good reason.

As to your argument that they adopt kids, I'm not convinced the kids are not harmed by having a gay couple as parents. It's proven that just being a single parent can have an effect on the development of a child, so having gay parents would certainly have some effect.

Your statement that they don't judge others for being different is oversimplistic. It's grouping all gay people into it, when some of them do judge others. The ones who call me homophobic just for not wanting to know what they do in the bedroom, for example.

Your argument about straight people starting wars is not valid, as the sexuality of the leaders who have started wars was not among the reasons the wars were started.

The same holds true of your argument about the harm straight people have caused, unless it is limited to the harm staight people have caused to gay people. In that case, then I believe gay people have been unjustly harmed by straight people.

In the end, I believe gay people should be allowed to do what they want with their lives, excepting marriage and the right to raise children as a couple. I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman for religeous reasons. That's enough for me. I believe the children would and are being psychologically harmed. Nothing in your question has changed my mind about it.

Personally, homosexuals have never done anything to hurt me.
I don't believe it should be anybody's business what they do. Why shouldn't they be allowed to marry? How does it harm anyone else? Aren't the heterosexuals who marry and cheat on their spouses allowed to marry again? Isn't this a sin? Nobody says anything about that! It just accepted these days. But again that is nobody's business.
I believe a person's life is between him/herself & God. The bible points out many sins but where does it say we should be the judge and jury of others?
Let people live their own lives, I say! let them make their own choices whether you believe them to be right or wrong! Don't we have enough to worry about ourselves?
I must say though that I could live without their "pride" parades!!!! Its not the "gayness" but the "nastiness" that bothers me. As it would if a parade of half-naked heterosexuals came jirating by!!!! Just a question of taste!!! lol

They flaunt theirselves all over the media for attention, which is unneeded.

Your gay, nobody cares. Go put stuff where they dont belong.

It also gives the kids wrong ideas.

homosexuals dont really do anything that hurts you personally as a WHOLE but they are not the norm, children do not need to see a man or woman kissing the same sex because even though gays may disagree IT IS WRONG. Being gay is WRONG. You have a choice to be gay, that "born that way" clutter every gay person tries to tell you is wrong. That doesn't happen. You make that choice.

Hurting me is not the problem. Hurting themselves and the person or persons that they commit this act of fornication with is.

Disobedience to God is the reason that AIDS and other STDs have been released into the world. All of us even straight people, cause harm for themselves and others by disobedience and rebellion against what God has told us to do or not to do. They do not realize that His requests are not for Him (other than that He wants our love and for us to listen to Him) . They are for us. For our welfare and our health because He loves us.

So many people are deciding to become homosexual and distort sex now days only because it has become popular and fun just as some straight people are misusing sex too. I wonder, how many would do this if they understood and practiced what God has planned for us and knew that sexual activity between 1 man and 1 woman who have decided to make a life long commitment with each other, can be loving, and healthy for them and their children?

I don't have a problem with a persons sexuality

My husband on the other hand does. It's not a religious issue. He is sickened by the idea of what they get up to in the bedroom. I don't think that he thinks that they are a threat to society. It's just why he chooses not to keep gay company.
On the other hand, he likes the idea of (pretend) lesbian adult films - too bad for him, he doesn't get to watch porn (I'm sure he sneaks it when I'm not around lol).

It's only their personal bedroom life is what my husband hates.
As I said before, I don't have a problem with homosexuals and I don't have the same opinion as my husband.

since it's encouraged and almost considered racism if you don't like simply the idea of homosexuality where I am, I can say it affects me personally. you know what if feels like to be called a racist.

people need to stop saying "this was a gay crime" or "this was a straight crime". me, I think homosexuality is perverse but a rape is a rape. and to the questioner, I would go saying "what have gays ever done", especially with all the "padres" people talk about. same goes with religion. when a man goes to war, he doesn't go as a Christian or as an atheist, or as a straight guy or a gay guy, he goes as a soldier. when someone commits a crime, they commit a crime as a human, not a label.

-- anyone can adopt kids who need homes. I know of more straight foster parents than gay ones.
-- lot's of couples can't have kids on their own.
-- war is about dominance, nothing more really, no mnatter who starts it or for what proposed motive; it's dominance.
-- think of all the homo homocidals and gay rapes. don't deny it happens.

if you blame or defend a label, more problems arise.

It's an empty rationale for the political machinations of the demagogic right-wing.

And the politicians who spin it don't care about homosexuality at all, or God, or abortion, or any of that stuff. They criticize homosexuals, the rubes vote for them, and then they pursue a corporate agenda. It's a brilliant scheme.

Well actually they do hurt society in a non-physical way. When they make public appearances it influences other people in a bad direction. For example, to be gay was a disease in the past, not something people chose but something that couldn't be changed. And not many people had it. Recently being gay has almost become a fashion, something "cool". It's like someone told me, Hollywood's job with the movies and everything is to make the unnatural natural. It's like that with the gay idea. More people are choosing to take that direction because the publice appearances and videos make it seem like its a good thing, or something natural. It's like sex with people making it such a random thing like the show "Sex and the City". Before it used to be a private love between married couples and now theres stuff like porn. Like I said, making the unnatural natural.
