Not only do I give it to my dogs but, my kids too!!!! Haven't you ever tried it? It's yummy go ahead !! I watched a documentary from the Ol'Roy factory and they really put stuff in it.......What???????? I dunno?? Someone (who knows nothing) said its made by the Chinese government. But, I know for a fact those little chips in it are NOT lead paint. I also heard recently it is going to be a "Meat Substitute" for public schools?? Hey, it worked for Ketchup as a vegetable.......Why not??

Now the truth is I am not a fan of high priced dog foods. But, even I wouldn't feed my mother in law Ol' Roy.......LOL

I'm assuming Ol'Roy isn't on www.dogfoodanalysis.com because it didn't even earn one star. It's a terrible, terrible food. The only thing I would say is worse is Old Yeller, because it's using rabies as a marketing tactic.

On googling Ol'Roy, I found a website that proclaimed that it's "as good as Pedigree," which may sound really great to an average dog owner, but to those of us who've done some research, that means "it's like feeding your dog cardboard."

I can afford $60+ on a 30 lb. bag of Innova Evo. Why? Because my dog loves her buffalo. She's healthier, happier, cuter, and all over better than she was on Nutro, which isn't a terrible food either.

I'd sooner let my dog eat a dead thing off the side of the road - then roll in it - then sit in a car with me unbathed for a week, than so much as let her have ONE bit of Ol'Roy kibble.

I say it's bad because... it is. I've seen the difference food makes. I'm NEVER going to risk killing my dog over something I can control.

If that was the best food I could afford for my dogs I would feed them table scraps as they would be better nourished. Ol' Roy is about as bad as it gets. It even makes Beneful look like a top brand and that is very hard to do.

Wow!
The problem with dog food manufacturers is they can change up to 20% of their ingredients without having to change the labels on the bags of food. so just because it says it contains chicken doesn't mean it conatins real chicken meat, it could contain chicken beaks for all we know. they can go from corn to wheat without saying anything to the general public. and there are some less expensive brands out there that you can feed your animal that are still healthier than ole roy. It is the old addage you pay for what you get.

Sweetie

Would you think that it is healthy to eat at McDonald's, Taco Bell, Baskin Robbins, and so on for every meal? (if so, please watch supersize me!). This food - if we can call it that - has very little nutritional value. Really - honestly. What you are feeding your dog is a bunch of "lips and *******" as we like to say. It's a hot dog for dogs. It's got fillers, by-products, corn and wheat (which are the top two main allergens for dogs - meaning that they are allergic to it so it causes their skin to molt off, it causes them to itch alll the time as if they had fleas, it makes their coat greasy). I know that sometimes money is tight, if it really is that tight, it wouls honestly be better to spend a little extra and at least move one step up to Purina. If you can buy 50 pounds of dog food for 5.99, don't you think that something must be "wrong" with it??!! What you are buying is a whole lotta nothing!

Good food, that people should be feeding their pets (if you don't want to go the raw diet/you prepare the food for them), would be something organic- that means that they don't use pesticides - and we all know that pesticides can cause death, illness, cancer and so on. Good food would contain ingredients, when you read them, that YOU would eat yourself. Look for foods that don't contain wheat, corn, "meat", meat by-products and so on.

Good food, while more expesive, you actually feed your dog less of - because it's got nutritional value to it! Good food means less/more dense poos - which means less clean-up.

Plan on - if you want to buy high quality food, on spending about a dollar a pound. We buy a 28 pound bag of natural Balance (sweet potato and fish) for 42.99 at PetCo. Yea - expensive. But you know what - all of the ingredients in there are things that you can purchase at the grocery store and eat yourself!

So please consider purchasing the best food that you can afford. But don't come on here and tout Ole Roy as good food.

Ol' Roy is far from being top qualtity dog food. I don't know where you got the idea, that it's such great food. Ol' Roy is nothing but "Road Kill".{pure garbage}, and that's why people, say it's bad. I can afford it, but I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy, much less my dogs. I feed my dogs Canidae All Life Stage, and the have never been healthier.

LOL the little 5 pound bag of Merrick's that I buy costs more than the 20 pounds bag of Ol'roy!

"top dog food"? HA!! Ol' Roy is one of the cheapest brands out there.. full of fillers and meat by products.

Yeah i agree. There are ways around it though. If you buy in quantity it tends to be much cheaper. I have mastiffs and if i were to buy the smaller bags of top dog food id be spending more on my dogs to eat then myself hahah. So we buy 40lb bags and it is remarkably cheaper. Another thing you can do is buy large bags of rice from the grocery store which is also very cheap and every week feed the dog some rice with some fresh grilled chicken and it will somewhat make up for it if you feel bad about it. As long as you love and care for your dog and the dog is healthy and sees the vet when it needs to then who cares what others think. I must agree that brand is pretty bad though. Canidae same price much better.

ol' roy is the cheapest, most disgusting unhealthy excuse for a food there is. Canidae is a much better choice for many reasons:
1. it isn't more expensive!
- they eat less of it.
- less vet bills
- less poop bags (thats right they poop less)
- and its embarrassing

2. you will have a healthy dog
-ol' roy is full of fillers (the 2nd and 3rd ingredeients are fillers!)
- canidae (and others) have no fillers!

3. poisons
- ol' roy has some poison (which they use to kill the dogs which are in this food). however the owner says, it is in "safe amounts", but would you eat some thing with safe amounts of pesticides?
- good foods don't

4. preservatives.
- ol' roys has chemicals as preservatives
- good foods use natural preservatives.

with good foods (canidae, orijen, innova, solid gold) your dog is much healthier and happier, for a cheaper price (including extra life, slightly higer price, less poop bags & vet bills).
ol' roy has KILLED dogs because of the ingredient in it. please feed your dog one of the good foods.
