Ok the first sentance in my Bible says:
" In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth " where in there did you read universe?
Second sentance:
" The earth was without form and empty."
Probably the effects of a bolder smashing it, ya think.
Third Sentance:
" Darkness was everywhere and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep."
Well I guess it's possible that if what hit was strong enough to kill life on the planet it just might have knocked the planet into a position that cause the sun not to shine on it.
Not impossible at all.
Fourth Sentance:
" God said: Let there be light and there was light."
And here's where he started creating the earth.
Thanks for making me dig out my Golden Books, The Children's Bible.
I will use it more now that I have it out.
This is why you should do your own reading because people don't always know what they are talking about.
Like this guy who says God created the universe.
Gee I wonder where he lived before he created the universe.
He he
Ok to be fair to your question how about we're just fungus on a piece discarded something or other and the whole universe is just not inside our little buble of atmoshere but still a part of the item or fungus.
How's that.

Some new thoughts? Sorry to disappoint Hardy (the very angry poster above), but this atheist surely doesn't know everything. I just know that Godditit is not a sufficient explanation for anything. I wasn't there at the beginning, nor am I a scientist. I'm a housewife. I can tell you how to make a plate of flying spaghetti, but I'm afraid no amount of creativity on my part will come close to the truth about the origins of the universe.

One current hypothesis is that the 10 dimensions of our universe were once equal in scope. However, this was an unstable situation. Eventually, the quantum state of the universe tunneled to a more stable lower energy state.
This new state is where our universe is now. Six of the dimensions are now so tiny that even electrons have no wiggle room in them. One of the remaining four dimensions is time. The other three are length, width, and height. These three are now so vast in scope that even light which has been traveling for over 13 billion years has not managed to span them.
By tunneling to a lower energy quantum state, our universe dumped enormous amounts of energy into the three large dimensions. This explosion of energy is what is generally referred to as the Big Bang.

Well God did create it and everything else in the Universe. So to act to say He didn't that would be a step back why don't we say He did and then research and learn as much about His creations as possible?

Here's one for ya...how about a bunch of lame brain kids got together and created a world (which would be us) and each idiot kid were given a portion to control and come up with their own rules for "humanity" just to see which one would evolve the fastest and take over......
So here we are, one big science project with all different ideas of religions, rules, and societies... wonder which geek is ahead in the race......?
Think about it....

A lot of people prefer to embrace fantasy than the sure testimony of the Word of God.

I think that you are trying to be idealistic. I commend you on your attempt. But I am not thinking so hard on this.
It's perfectly explainable to me that God spoke and the worlds were formed. I have no problem with that. God speaks and other things happen too. It's all He does to make things happen. He needs no other way.

How about if It always existed and didn't have to be created? It is like the definition of infinity.

How do we know the universe even exists? Who's to say we aren't all just players in one being's fantasy?
