what helps you at the time of death. and how?

Nothing. Its what you do while you are alive and healthy that helps you at the time of death and not anything AT the time of death because then its too late.
Many die too suddenly or painfully or get in a coma before dying and you cant do much then so that is why you need to do something well before that time, like right now. Bhagavad Gita tells you what you need to do now.

its faith. death is something u r never ready for it just hits u in the face no matter how u try to b emotionally ready. time heals all wounds, thats abs true.even if u r a non believer faith n religion do really help.so become a believer. n family helps its tha strongest support group 1 can have n i think they'll understand better than ne1 else.if u need help just ask for it,n crying helps alot.so let all that come out n cry.

Well, there's the Communion of Saints who are always there for me, and in the Hail Mary I pray that the Virgin will pray for me at the hour of my death. And I believe that St. Michael the Archangel (the angel of death in Catholic belief among other jobs) and my Guardian Angel will escort me to Purgatory or Heaven. Then I will finally see God face to face.

Other help would be to receive the last rights (confession and anointing of the sick) from a Priest.

I would say faith in God. It comforts me to know that on account of Christ, all the dead will be raised to life. Some to life eternal, others to judgment. Still Christ will not reject anyone coming to him.
