I have a Kodak EasyShare C340
It worked at first for the most part.... but for some reason the batteries wouldnt keep it charged. I sent it in to get fixed and they claimed they fixed it but it wasnt. So I just left it alone and tested different batteries and then one random day it decided to work.
THEN... for Spring Break I brought it to Jamaica and for the first few pictures it worked but after about 3 all of a sudden all of my pictures have these vertical lines on them. If i take pictures of landscapes its all white. If it's upclose sometimes it gets a face but the background has all these white lines on it. The color is disoriented.
I'm so sick of trying to take it in anymore because it seems like all they do is send it off and give it back 2 weeks later saying it's fixed with no change.
Anyone know what could be wrong... or should I just get a new digital camera?
(I feel bad getting a new one. My parents gave me this for Xmas about a year and a half ago...)
Help!

I already have the rechargable batteries and the charger. :) The batteries arnt the problem anymore (I dont think) It keeps the charge fine. It's just when I take a picture the white lines show up everywhere... I'll try and post one to try and show.

Here's some of my messed up pictures.... They're almost ALL like this. Randomly I'll get one or two normal one's but I don't know why. 99.9% of the pictures I take are messed up with these lines or all white.

the same thing happened with my kodak easyshare C330, the LCD screen was very white w/ vertical lines, but when i put the pics on the computer they were 100% normal, i had a 1 year warranty on my camera, but you might have to send it to kodak and pay to get it fixed

Concerning the batteries I never use the rechargables. I only use Lithium batteries in my Easyshare camera, they last a long time and I don't have any of the charging issues that these cameras have.
The white lines do sound like a repair issue though. Is there any way tanning lotion, water or any other liquid got into the camera? It may need to go back for repair, from the sounds of it.

if its a AA battery using camera, buy rechargable AA's and a charger
EDIT: im sure Ryan just miss read the question because his answer is out of character for him, I didnt thumb him down.
Ok sounds like it is a fault, 2 weeks sounds fast, I expect they send it nowhere!
People always thumb me down for this: point and shot digital cameras are really cleverly disgussed disposables. Most of the time they are uneconomic to fix: hence dispose, the Average life span of such cameras is 3 years, some last longer most dont. Sorry all of that is to soften the blow: get another camera, it has a fault not worth fixing and the people in the shop are wasting your time. Sorry its not a nice answer,. Your camera is displaying a software corruption or a circuit board short or fault. Its a shame and im charmed by the fact you dont want to hurt your parents.
Its not worth fixing, its time to replace, the frustration of some good some bad shots will not be good for you.
Thats all.

The white streaks tend to be reported as contrails, short for "condensation path." The speedy shrink in air tension brought about by utilising the wing or by utilising engine exhaust additionally motives a speedy drop in temperature, which then motives water vapor suspended interior the air to condense into seen debris. the explanation some planes do no longer seem to have contrails and a few do is using the two the humidity interior the air, and the temperature. The extra the humidity, the extra apt an airplane is to create a contrail. Water vapor condenses while the temperature and dew factor are very close (interior 8 stages). (think of of a foggy day: each and every thing feels moist.) greater humidity capacity the dew factor occurs at a decrease temperature than on an afternoon while humidity is low. airplane at greater altitudes are extra vendors to contrails than those at decrease altitudes by way of fact temperatures are decrease at those extreme altitudes. The decrease temps frequently recommend the dew factor "unfold" is likewise much less, which makes it much less demanding to create water vapor, and consequently, contrails. length and velocity of the airplane additionally influence contrail progression. the swifter an airplane is going, the extra advantageous the drop in air tension because it passes in the process the air, and consequently, extra contrail progression! desire this enables.
