Depending on what type of computer your on there are many different animating and Movie editing programs, even free open source ones that I might not know about..

ANIMATION:
For Windows: Pivot, Adobe Flash, you can even use PowerPoint to make animations if you know the program.

For Mac: Adobe Flash, Powerpoint etc.

MOVIE EDITING:
For Windows: basic Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Avid, Pinnacle Studio etc

For Mac: iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Avid, Premiere..
