I have a Sylvania 20 inch television. I also have a Sylvania VCR-DVD combo. Both have been in storage for 18 months and I can't remember exactly how they hook up. I have the red and white plugs plugged in like the manual shows and also have my S-cable plugged in. The TV turns on and works and the DVD player turns on and works, however I can't get the tv to show my dvds. I lost my tv remote and recently ordered another one. I think I may need the tv remote to switch into the mode to view the dvds. Can anyone tell me any differently or help me rig this up so I can watch movies?

Thanks for your help!

Your TV needs to be in Video in mode (not TV mode).
Sometimes this will work

Go to Ch2
Then go Ch - (or down) ; if you are lucky it will take you to Video In; if not, you need a remote to switch between TV and Video modes.

Just shooting in the dark here, but check the buttons on the front of your TV, and also look for a concealed compartment of controls. What you're looking for is a control to select a video input instead of your tuner. It's probably called "input" or "tv/video". Set it to video.

You need to select the input on your tv.

If you connect your DVD into input 1-You should also select input one on your TV so that you may view your dvd.

You may need to set up your dvd as well. You will need to go to the dvd menu and go into the set up. You need to select the video out via S-video and audio output via analog audio.
