Lets say you had about 8 to 10 couples coming over your house for a summer BBQ and drink feast.

All the guys including yourself drink beer at a moderate pace. The girls drink wine and "girly drinks."

My questions are how much beer would you buy and what kinds would you buy? Remembering that not everyone likes micro's but some may want to see something other then Bud, Miller and Coors.

I

Here was the final decision....

12 paks of the following........

Miller Lite - to satisfiy any macro drinkers.

Sam Light - I know that my guests like light beer in general. This is one of the best.

Yuengling Lager - A fine everyday Lager.

Brooklyn Summer Ale - A nice summer ale brewed locally.

i'd get 12 pack of micros (a lot of store sell 12 packs with a variety of micros in them), 12 pack 'generic' (bud, coors, etc.), 12 pack of hefeweizen (sierra nevada), 12 pack of a good lager, ale, pilsner, or a stout.

unless you drink a lot, you might not need them all, but it's good to have a variety. if you know what your guests like, it will make buying much easier.

I would just overstock on the macros. And don't hold back. Nothing ruins the BBQ faster than running out of beer. Besides, you can always finish the leftovers at your leisure. Usually, if your guests have any class, they won't show up empty handed. It's common practice to bring some of your favorite microbrew to the party to share and show off your good taste. If they want a special beer let them bring it themselves. Otherwise, the Coors are in the cooler.

Buy 2 cases of beer and 2 twelve packs of Mike's Hard Lemonade for the girls. On the beer I would choose something like Corona, New Castle, or even Mickeys or Pabts Blue Ribbon. This is enough to start and I'm sure your guests will not come empty handed - someone will bring extra beer and cocktails! Have fun!

Ok bro, get one case of Corona...most people like that.
Then get a 12 pack of Yuengling Lager...you can NEVER go wrong with Yuengling.
Then throw in a 6 pack of Flying Fish Xtra Pale Ale, and a 6 pack of Sam Adams...maybe Summer Ale...just to be safe.
Then for the chicks, get your wine coolers or as someone said the Mike's Lemonade.

DOOOO ITTT!

Buy a ratio of 2 beers to 1 girly drink e.g. a 24-pack of beer, a 4-pack of girly drinks & 2 wine bottles.

being who I am, no "cheap beers"

Where I am located, I get a Sam Adams pack and a Red Talke Ale pack. Somewhere in there is a beer of 8 different styles for someone to enjoy

In the USA our people are supportive your your purchases of beer. I have yet to feel as if a clerk or cashier is passing judgment on me for buying alcohol/beer. But if they do i would just give it back to them. Its not their job to pass on their values or morals only their polite service. If you feel this is happening to you speak with the store management.
