I think HMS will try to get him a number with an 8 in it. #81? #08? Have to wait and see.

Go JR.>>>>

Well the #5 has been in Hendrick since the beginning. So I see that number sticking. I just hope itll be a different designed five. The "Labonte 5" should be retired. Do the Mears "5" style. If not 5 though, 81 is the most ideal pick for Jr. I think that if Jr isnt 8, he wont care what number he is. And that man doesnt want to be #3 and shouldnt. "K2" would be an interesting number to have.

Go Jr.!!!!

That's great! As someone else said, if Junior wanted to drive 8 he shoulda stayed with his daddy's company. Maybe they'll give the 8 to Kerry Earnhardt or Jeffrey Earnhardt. Keep it all in the family!

It looks as though 5 would be(and may be) the number but I think Hendrick will taylor a number for Junior.

Dale Jr stated earlier that he would like to have the #81 if he can't drive the #8. So as of right now, I'd say their next goal is going to be to try and make that happen.

from jayski.com
"Earnhardt last week reiterated his want to drive the #8 in 2008, but said if the deal ultimately doesn't pan out he'd like #81, which he has run at times in the Busch Series."

I think I saw an interview where he said that if he couldn't get the 8, that he would want the 81. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him in any number that starts with an 8. But I don't see him taking a number without an 8 in it.

WOW, I am so glad to see that everyone didn't cave in. Junior did not get his way for once. Maybe there is a hope for the future of this sport.
