It has happened to me a few times, where I will feel the Lord laying someone on my heart. I then will pray, mostly in the Spirit. I remember one time where I prayed for nearly an hour before I felt that burden released. I remember once in the middle of the night, I woke up in the middle of the night with the intense urge to pray for someone. I prayed for a while, and then as quick as the burden was put on my soul, it was released. All in all, the basic term intercession means to pray for someone else. God Bless.

To intercede is a bit more intense than normal prayer. At least, that's my interpretation of the phrase. Some pray in tongues but I don't have that gift.

Simply pray on their behalf.
They do not have to know you are doing it.
However, if they hear you pray for them you may build up their faith. Pray without ceasing.......talk to God continually.
Strengthen and pray for the brethren, the world your enemies....there is alot to pray to God about.
Interceding is a simple thing. It is not some great production.
Your prayer"closet" is sufficient. For what your Father sees you do in private He will reward you outwardly.
Intercede on!

I love to pray and intercede for people. Usually I feel something in my spirit like a heaviness. I spend alot of time praying in tongues for the person. I usually pray until I feel that I no longer have to pray any longer. Sometimes I feel like crying for that person. I could be driving down the street and see someone in a car or even a pedestrian that God wants me to pray for. Sometimes it is at the end of the day that someone comes to my mind.

I believe all you have to do is pray for the person by name. The amazing thing about prayer intercession is that you can pray for someone thousands of miles away and rest assure God will respond to your sincere prayer.
Take care Beth

DreamStuff, i point out again you are brilliant, your question and your answers show that clearly. i will give you a simple answer that i use with little kids when they ask the same question. if you have a clump of mud and a clump of chocolate and you put both in the sun, what happens. the kids immediately say, the mud gets as hard as rock, and the chocolate melts. so it is with the hearts of men. when exposed to the revelation of God through Jesus, men's hearts soften or they harden. ask a child why the mud gets hard and the chocolate gets soft and they can't tell you why, not understanding what is made of, but they know that each is made of different stuff. people don't eat mud as a rule. again, so it is with the hearts of men. some respond, some do not. this is where the doctrine of irresistible grace comes from. it is also the birth place for the doctrine of election and predestination. prayer works by affecting the hearts of men to respond to the grace of the LORD. how you respond determines your future in eternity. the workings of prayer per se are known only to God himself, but we see the effects. funny thing about you, Dream Stuff, you may well be one of the best minds and most coherent person who is in this forum.

This requires the anointing of the Holy Ghost.Anyone can pray, but to intercede you will feel their pain and suffering. If they are lost you will feel lost as well. The words you speak will be spoken by the Holy Ghost. You may or may not receive visions while praying.
Note: I don't believe we get to pick and choose who we intercede for.The Holy Ghost will lead you to do this.

When you pray for someone that is exactly what you are doing, interceding for them. Interceding means you are the middle man. Jesus Christ is our intercessor to a Holy God. God bless.

Pray in the spirit for them
You don't sometimes know what the spirit knows and he intercedes through us according to the will of God, you can also use your own language
