You are a "conveninece store catholic", picking and choosing those parts that you want to follow and ignoring the rest.
[I don;t mean it as a slam; I am one myself]

No. Not liking church or religion doesn't make you an atheist. I think Jesus felt the same way. That is why he whipped those religious leaders that sold items outside of the synagogue. Jesus said in Mark 11:17 "...Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves." Perhaps you have seen this same hypocrisy and have been turned off. I challenge you to trust in Christ. The Holy Spirit will lead you to great teachers and sincere followers of Christ with whom you may share fellowship and friendship in your faith. I have listed some good web ministries below.

You're not an atheist because you believe in a higher power. Atheists do not believe in god. Agnostics (such as myself) do not believe it is possible to know whether or not a god exists or its true nature.
You could very well fall under the "spiritual but not religious" category. You could also be a pantheist if you're the sort who finds god in everything. It's hard to tell with the limited information I've got. But you are not an atheist.

An Atheist does not believe in any sort of God or creator; so you're not an Atheist. If you believe in God yet not the organized title of a religion, that would make you a Deist.

You have to pray it is your way of communicating with God, You go to church to praise God and worship with other saints, and if you do not follow a religion then don't claim one.
Sorry but I don't think your serving God the right way, and he deserves the praise, and worship. He is a merciful God and will forgive all sins, but you gotta pray to be forgiven. Read a bible its in it through out the whole thing..!!
God Bless

You are definitely not an atheist. You don't have to be a member of a church to believe in God - what matters is the condition of your heart and if you live out what you believe. I would consider you a Christian.

In other words you believe in a supreme power. Now all you need to do is satisfy yourself with the reasons why. Sounds like you are more of an Agnostic. Why don't you do a little reading to help clear things up?

theres a difference between religion and having a relationship with God . you dont have to go to church to know god ,God reveals himself to you in his divine word to believe in God is to have faith and trust him with your whole life this is one way of saying I believe in god . faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God . Religion has it's own place but knowing and trusting the Lord as your savior is a personal relationship with him not a religion . the only way a person should say they believe is because there's evidence in there life that they live what they believe the Lord himself was not a religious person he was perfect and without sin a holy person with a divine nature . as far as your question goes I would not say that your an athiest that is not for me to judge or anyone else that is between you and god . I myself think that religion is not enough . what we need is a Savior not a religion theres enough of them in the worlld . I just greatful that he saved me from my sin and my relighious ways I used to be a catholic
but by the love and grace of God he saved me and chose me to reveal his son living in me God sent not his son into the world to condem the world but that we might have life in him
You had a good point there "RELIGION" athiest dont even believe in that If you believe in God seek him and you find him knock and it shall be opened unto you everyone that seeks God finds him and the door he opens to them
Thanks for sharing

I well understand your aversion to religion, brother. If you believe in a god, it's your personal choice. However, as many here have rightly pointed out, you're not an atheist.

No. It makes you more of an agnostic with a tendency to believe in a Supreme Being.
But because you don't seem like you believe it is possible to know what that Supreme Being could want of us, I place you in the category of agnostics.
