The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

Flea bombs don't get under the furniture. Use flea sprays like raid that kill the eggs. Apply Advantage to your cat twice a month for a few doses, and get some Capstar from the vet. Give it twice a week or more often to kill the adult fleas on the cat quickly. You may have to call in a professional exterminator if they are that bad.

I would try another professional company. Most have some type of guarantee, where you shouldn't have to do anything hokey after they have sprayed and gone. Their spray or whatever they use should kill them. You also can carry fleas in your own items, so like if you leave and they spray you could have fleas in your clothing or even like your purse, then you bring them back to breed more. I worked with a lady once that had a poodle that had fleas so bad we watched fleas come out of her purse while it was sitting next to ours in our work place. Anyway, good luck.

Fleas are hard to get rid of even with one child. You may be bombing the house (which is good) but you need to get rid of the fleas from your animals at the SAME time or all your work is in vain. Now that school is starting maybe you can have all your kids out of the house at the same time. You also have to get your animals out (at the same time). There is a chewable that your animals can take (get from your vet) once given the fleas are dead within 2 to 3 hours. You can give this to your animals everyday for at least 3 days. This will make sure there are no fleas on your animals. Now that you took care of that problem, you can keep your home flea free by first putting flea collars on your animals. You can also start to give them garlic chewables. If they don't like that you can put it in their food. It may take a couple of weeks but your animals will be flea free with garlic in their system. Now for your house. To keep fleas out, once a week sprinkle baking powder on your carpet and furniture. Don't vacuum for a couple of days. Not only does it freshen, but it kills fleas and eggs. (They can't breath) If it doesn't rain for a few days, sprinkle Tide on your lawn. That helps kill them too. Its work, but its worth it. Good luck .

I am having the exact same problem right now. I live in the south where the temperature is in the triple digits and it's real bad humid. Our exterminator told us the hotter it is the harder it will be to get rid of the fleas after he sprayed a second time. My mother got some kind of spray from our veternarian and so far that's helping some.

You won't like this assuming your animals I am guessing you must have some have been treated. You may have to remove your carpeting. I also assuming that someone told you to empty your vacumm cleaner outside and throw away the bags after vaccuming. Fleatrol brand worked for me. It contained a flea killer and flea birth control. I treated twice one time again two weeks later. I especially treated around the base boards. Have you also treated your yard?

The same thing with my dog. My cat basically LIVES outside. and when she comes inside, i guess, the fleas jump off her, and go into the carpet. so my dog is ALWAYS INFESTED. we even dog sitted for my moms friend, and when we gave her, her dog back, she had to get it shaved because her dog was now infested. My mom has tried flea bombs too, but with us, its a never ending thing, so if you have something bringing in fleas, then i dont think you are able to do anything. I think i have flea bites on me too, but i dont think there is anything you can to, they are just going to keep comming.

its very difficult to kill fleas.. but it can be done.. fleas are resiliant when they are in their cocoon stage. when they are not feeding they hide in your carpet protected by a cocoon for up to a whole year, which is why they are so hard to kill.. Try a product called DEMIZE carpet spray.. spray it on the furniture and carpet.. and if you have animals, the best flea killing product is Frontline, you can get it online or any vets office..

Get rid of whatever animal is bringing them into the house first of all.
Try a spray bottle with half distilled vinegar and half water-spray it on your carpet AFTER you vacuum each time. (Kills the eggs too)
