modern day people. why should i believe in someone in history as my savior? they could just as easily say that leonardo di vinci or alexander gram bell is a profit to people back then. what reason, other than the fact that jesus is mentioned in the bible and his name is really popular should i believe in him.......just a hypothetical question.

Well whether or not you believe in Jesus as the (son of God) ,and savior is your prerogative. Ask yourself this, what if you are wrong about Jesus?
That is why God gives us a free will to accept or not accept.

Jesus/God came to earth at one time in the flesh to show Himself to people. Many saw and some believed and some didn't. He fulfilled the OT prophecies, the thing that God told the Israelites would happen in the future. For thousands of years Israelites (and others) handed down the words of God. Then He actually came. He did what God said He would do. He fulfilled the prophecies and went back to Heaven. Then for the next 2000 yrs, believers and non-believers told their families and neighbors of what they witnessed and heard. Today some believe and some don't.
So it's really up to you, as an individual (intelligent, I assume), to listen to the stories, read the Bible, talk with others and decide for yourself to either believe or don't.
If you decide not to believe, then after your body dies, you will know the truth. If you decide to believe, then after your body dies, you will know the truth. Every single person will either meet their Creator and go to Heaven or hell or we will all just decay. End of story. It's all about faith. Faith and reason, actually.
If I believe and God, Jesus, Holy Spirit do exist, I'm praying/hoping I will live forever with Them. If I have been believing in the wrong creator, then I will see what will happen to me. If nothing exists, I will see nothing, hear nothing and feel nothing. And I can decay in peace.

They could say that, but they don't. Why don't they? Because it's not so. Jesus preached for only 3 1/2 years, compared to about 140 years for Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle combined. He never wrote one word, yet he set the world on it's ear. Jesus has made himself known to modern day people, or you wouldn't be asking this question. He made himself known for ever and ever. You should believe in him, because there is no other way to enter the kingdom of God. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24.

Well in "my" faith, Jesus is all he said he was and as a "savior" his own statement says he stated he was NOT of "this" world. I am not a christian and said this before I tell you a "truth." If Jesus said he was "not" of this world and the Father is in heaven and not HERE, what does that make THIS world ?
Salvation is not as this blood sacrifice or dying for people who can't accept the blame for their own mistakes, as christian go around preaching, the "salvation" Jesus offered was from THIS world and having to be DAMNED to it. Remember Jesus and the men possessed of demons ? Ask yourself, IF this place we live on is not what the ancient called HELL, "why" were their demons POSSESSING people HERE ? Shouldn't they be in hell where they belong ? That's where christians MISS many truths in their own scriptures. THIS world is of the FLESH, but it also is of the spirits DAMNED to it. Heaven is of the SPIRITS and of a kingdom of PEACE.
Jesus, whether you believe in him or not MATTERS "only" when you think of the fact that you and I and everyone on this planet is IMMORTAL. Of spirit and flesh, WHETHER we like it or not. WHERE we want to LIVE "eternally" is a REALITY none can escape for it comes to all believers OR non-believers ALSO whether any of us like it or not. Jesus only STATED we have a CHOICE and it is our own PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY "where" we wish the NEXT part of us to exist and that the ONLY way to get to heaven is THROUGH him......

You are correct. You do not need Jesus because you don't need saving from anything but your own government. There are no sins. You are God and so is everyone else.
You have lived before and you will live again because we don't die, just change bodies.
Isn't life the coolest creation ever?

There is no historical evidence to indicate that a "Jesus" ever existed. He is not a historical figure, but a character in a book of bad fiction.

Please see these Jewish links for information on the real Messiah. It is the original, and it resembles nothing in Christianity:
