I don't see the connection between the 2 questions, but they're both good, so I'm gonna answer 'em.
I think there are prophets all around us, constantly bringing us God's word. Only they don't look and sound like we want prophets of God to look/sound. That's why we keep missing God's message: we're too caught up in our own narrow ideas about who can prophesy in God's name and who can't.
Very often people in YA make points that make total sense to me, that I had not thought of before. I don 't know that these points are especially prophetic, but maybe I'm not recognizing the prophets in our midst either....

Q: Is there something about someone's question or answer here that strikes you in a way you didn't think would?
A: Frequently
Q: Would you recognize a prophet if one was amoung you?
A: I recognize T-Bone Burnett as the God of Frank Cash. I think Frank qualified as a prophet when he was predicting the results from the next-week games.

There's a lot of smart people in the world who seem to have a higher understanding of things- just due to experience, study, or whatever, and people who claim to be prophets are usually liars. Sorry to say that so harshly but they are. If someone wants to share something they know, by whatever means, then great, but if they claim to be a prophet, RUN. They're usually all about ego and money.

3) To the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, there is no light in them.
(Isa. 8:19,20)
4) When they disobey the law, God removes the vision.
(Ezek. 7:26)
5) True prophets place emphasis on Jesus Christ.
( 1John 4:1-3)
6) In vision, a true prophet does not breathe.

Consider the things that the Prophets have said and done. People do that all of the time in this day and age, but we just ship them off to insane asylums.
I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

Hello, Sanji:
Yes I would, because when someone thinks they have divine enlightenment, I question them and compare their beliefs with the Word. As instructed in Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them."
Jesus said He would send prophets, and you would know them by their fruits. Conversely, He said there would be many false prophets.
St John says: If someone says they know Him and don't keep His commandments, they are liars and there is no truth in them."
The proof is in the pudding, do they walk the walk and talk the talk, or are they promoting their own theories.
A Bible code tests is one has Spiritual discernment. In fact, it says the "Wicked will not understand." See http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Since we now have the written Word, I'm not really sure that there are prophets in the world anymore.
