I am angry because there are people spreading lies about my religion and I don't appreciate it. I am a woman. I am also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have never been treated like a second-class citizen. Those who see the LDS Church that way obviously have a serious problem going on with someone they know in the church or have no idea what they are talking about. Seriously, if you know someone who is a part of the LDS Church that is being treated this way, you should alert someone, not make generalized statements about the way the rest of the members of the church act.

I watched a movie about a Mormon Missionary just last weekend. It was the one with Anne Hathaway - it's late, I'm sleepy, so I can't remember the name of the film. But all that sweet guy was trying to do was spread the love of Jesus. He wasn't teaching any women to be submissive to men, to pop out babies, or to be a second wife in a polygamous marriage.

It's unfortunate how people will hear one story or receive only one viewpoint on an entire religion and from there will lash out to try and deconstruct it.

I don't have a big problem with Mormons, hey - the Osmonds were Mormons and we used to watch them on TV every week! J/K - and all jokes aside, don't let the turkeys get you down. I kinda did yesterday, and you know what, all that gobble-gobble is just ridiculous. You keep keepin' on girl!

Also, please note how the "true" Christians are attacking you in their responses here - I'm sure it's out of "love" though I'm not sure it's What Jesus Would Do. I'm a Christian, but was notified by several in the "true" group yesterday that I'm not. ANYWHOO. And just for anyone reading this, I do happen to believe in the Trinity, but when I truly accepted Jesus as my Savior, it was at a Bible Study led by a man who did not believe in the Trinity. So there.

This might sound a lot easier said than done.
And unless you really set your mind to it, it is
going to be nothing short of impossible. (But
give it a try): a certain old saying goes like
this. If you don't care about someone, then
they cannot make you angry.
Well, if you don't know the people who are
misrepresenting your religion, then there's
really no reason to get angry. Is there? And
it's certainly not going to help matters.
What you must learn to do is "tune out" the
things that annoy you; everything from bad
comments to disturbing noises in the Big
City. (Can you do anything about them? No.
So just ignore them.)

True story: a man was in his study room one
day, trying to relax his mind; trying to meditate.
He couldn't do it, because he heard from his
window the sounds of construction workers'
jackhammers, city buses; diesel rigs going
by, etc. He went to his teacher and told him
of these things, expecting to get some sort
of sympathy. But all the teacher said was:
"Did you notice it?"
It's your choice entirely whether or not to let
something annoy you. No matter how very
negative it may be, try thinking of it as just...
one thought. To analyze it, dissect it, and to
make "a mountain of a mole-hill" is going to
serve no other purpose other than to cause
a mountain of stress--which, of course, will
defeat your ultimate objective: peace-of-mind.

Good luck.

Friend you don't need to get angry because your Church is also spreading lies about who Jesus is. You mormons believe that Jesus is Lucifers brother. Where in the bible can you find that? And what about the planet Kolab or whatever that planet's name is....it's pure mumbo jumbo. You can't believe Joseph Smith if an "angel" appeared to him and told him to create a religion based on a sci-fi comic book.

the bible says: Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. -----------the bible is the only record that we can trust. Not the book of mormons, not the watchtower, not even marvel or dc. Wake up and smell the coffee friend.

You better read the bible and find out who the real Jesus is.

To God be the Glory! Forever and ever! Amen!

Anger is one of the seven deadly sins. You may want to just ignore the people who put down your religion. I know it's hard, but we need to just respect everyone's choice. I agree people should only make comments if they can back it up. If not, then they should stay quiet. I myself do not believe in Mormonism, but that does not mean I don't think it should be practiced. We have free will. I know Mormons talk a great deal about free will. So, just practice your faith and forget what others say about you or your religion.

Sorry you are so upset, but this is an open forum and people make all kinds of assertions that are not necessarily true. I have actually seen very little here about LDS compared to put-downs about Christians, or atheists. But I guess you should expect some unfair treatment when people can write whatever is on their mind and whatever they believe. There IS a law about freedom of speech. The speech doesn't have to be true.

Whoa! Calm down!

I agree that there are people on this forum who say bad and just plain wrong things about your religion, but you should see what they say about mine (I'm pagan).

The serious people here don't take undocumented comments as fact and often question the documentation that is provided. The bigoted people here (and there are plenty) are going to believe what they want to believe no matter what they read. And those here for the amusement don't take ANYTHING seriously.

Relax, and enjoy the ride.

Every person is allowed their own Opinion, Religion, etc.

But People will always make Generalisations, and they may not have a problem with said Church, Just be Unfamiliar with what they are teaching, against what they already know, Whether true or not.

I can understand that. although I disagree on many of your beliefs. Many people just spread what they hear and what they believe, not realizing that it is untrue, and some of them even do NOT care...but I can sympathise with you.

I do have one question for you though, please e-mail me with the answer. I mean no disrespect, but do mormons really have certain underwear that they have to wear? sorry, that sound rude, and I did originally find it funny, but if you think about it, and it's the first time you've heard it, then it IS kinda funny, but I'm not laughing now, I want to know if it's true.

Well when people spread lies to try and discredit your faith, that speaks volumes about them in my opinion. I was raised Catholic and noticed the same thing about Catholicism on here. It's always the same 4 or 5 "sincere" questions asked by the same people over and over again just so that they can spread propaganda and lies. I really feel sorry for people who are so brainwashed that they would follow a church that tells them to lie about other religions.

I know what you mean they do this to many religious sects. But I once read something that helped. There are so many people spreading lies and writing mis-informing books....i mean you can already tell by many of the responses. But i was told that with all the hateful remarks and lies said about us are the work of satan....if he is going to try so hard then it must be true. But there are decent people out there who don't spread lies......
