I know it's not in chronological order or whatever, so in what order should I read it so that it makes sense. And I can't understand Revelation worth anything, it's all encoded or whatever. How do I figure that out too?

here is a link that has the bible in order

Like someone else suggested I think you should start in the gospels (matthew, mark, luke, john) those are the easiest to follow. Don't worry about revelations at first, you will understand it better later after you read in other places.

Revelation is difficult, read it when you feel like it. You can also buy some books explaining revelation. When I first started to read the Bible, I could not understand hardly anything. I just happen to come across a children's bible story and read this. This helped alot as I understood who the people were and who was related to who. The new testament is a little easier and can be read in any order.

Start with the Gospels! The most important message of the Bible is about Jesus, so read the Gospels first because they tell about his life and ministry. Then read the epistles (letters) in the New Testament. Then go back and read the Old Testament-- I'm sure when you're reading it you'll see how Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promises to Israel.

Oh, and don't worry about not understanding Revelation-- many very educated Christian scholars debate its meaning to this day. Understanding God's love in Jesus Christ is the most important thing! Blessings :)

Start out simple. start with the book of St John because he tells the story of Jesus with love about love. Then go back and read Genesis and Exodus. they start the beginning. save the rest of the first 5 books for later. Leviticus is the law of the priest and can be boring to a beginning reader. Its the book that stops the all willing read the whole bible do gooders that dont get it done. read the rest of the gospels I suggest Mark Luke and Matthew and then Acts. Then starting with Joshua read thru all the history of Israel. Then the chronicle listed in Matthew at the beginning will make sense

I suggest beginning your reading right at the beginning. Then after you've given it a thorough read through, you can go back and study parts you don't quite understand, using a good concordance. As for Revelation, it's a strange book all right and you kinda have to read it in conjunction with Daniel and Matthew 24. If you read them together like that, you might get a better feel for what it's all about.

You don't have to figure it out. Jesus said in John 14: 26 and I quote "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

That's how the prophets and the disciples wrote the word. Read the book of John. You can also get a devotional to help you.
Another way is to read it by subjects. Take a topic, and study it in detail, reading from every quotation that deals with that topic.

The one thing you want to do as an individual is to ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in your study of the Word. He will surely lead you into all truth, I believe.

My father bought me a "bible in a year" version. It has 3 passages to read each day for 365 days: 1 from the Old Testament, 1 from the New Testament, and 1 Psalm. That might make the monumental undertaking more manageable, and instructive.
