I have had the same experiences in the past with my hair before. I have curly hair that is almost to the middle of my shoulder blades and I have it lightly layered to give dimension. Some people that have curly hair do not know how to style their hair also. The best solution is to have lightly layered cut not with a razor just straight cut. Make sure your stylist cuts with the curl not after the curl. I mean this by saying if you wrap the end of your curl around your finger you want the cut to end at the bottom of the curl not at the middle or above, that way it does not stick out and look big and "bell" shaped. When you style your hair if the time is allowable try to section your hair into one inch sections and wind the curl almost into a ringlet and let air dry. Make sure you use a leave in conditioner to hold the curl. These are just some tips that I have used successfully through out my life and hair styles.

Short curly haircut styles can give you a change of personal image from your usual hairstyle. But curly haircut doesn't suit anyone. To have a perfect short curly haircut, here are something that you might need to take into your consideration:
Face shape: Make sure your face shape will suit a short cut. If, for example, you have a long face, you’ll want to stay away from a long straight style. If your jaw line is quite defined and large, it’s best to stay away from a bulky curly hairstyle that just focuses more attention on that area.
Hair Texture: Is your hair thin, curly, wavy, thick, course etc? You want to ensure that the short curly hairstyle you choose does not become a burden. You want to make sure you are spending less time on your hair in the mornings – not more!
Haircut Styles: This should be a major factor in deciding on the right cut for your curly hair. Make sure that your stylist is trained in cutting short hair. It’s best to get a referral from someone who has used this stylist in the past and you liked the results of their short curly hair cut. Why not call the stylist and get a consultation. They’ll be able to assist you in finding the right short curly hairstyle for you.

I would suggest looking at some pictures of Nicole Kidman. She has your hair type only longer.
Unless you have it chemically straightened I would not go short. Personally I don't like bangs (with my straight hair they are just in the way) but you could cut some long side bangs and look cute. Good luck.

I do not know how curly your hair is if it is really curly don't do bangs you will only fight them all day long. I think the length is good. I have curly hair also and I like long layers it helps my hair not make a tent you know flat at the top and poofey on the bottom it helps it balance out. I hope this helps.

No bangs with curly hair. And you should keep it long. It won't look good short.

I think you should weare your hair half pulled back so it's not in your face and not all back because it will look llike you're bald. Also do not bangs. With curly hair they will just poof out and look bad. Hope I helped. :)

You should get bangs, but if you get them, straighten just the bangs. And ask for "long, loose bangs" that way they won't be so bobbly-perfect. They'd be messy and sultry, which goes really good for curly hair.
