I am not an Atheist, or a Christian, but I don't understand why it matters to you if others don't believe as you do! It should not matter. The truth is that most Christians believe that their way is the only right way, and everyone else is wrong. This is a fallacy! Every path is the right one for the person who follows it. All paths are valid, and spirituality is not "one size fits all" If what you believe makes sense to you, when you seek for your answers within...then that is fine. But, you don't have the right to tell anyone else that you are right and they are wrong. Do you understand what I am saying to you? By the way, Milly just posted a great answer! Thank you. Milly *sm*

You're hardly the first person to ask this, but here we go again.
For the record, I'm agnostic. I don't believe it's possible to know one way or another whether god exists. There are times I lean toward the possibility of there being a god, but most times, I'm convinced that god is a creation of some sick men who use the promises of heaven and the fear of hell to control people. And other religions have their carrot-and-stick ways to keep people in place, so it isn't just Christianity.
So, why do YOU believe the way you do?

We could ask you that very same question. So could a Muslim. Or a Buddhist. We all walk different paths.
I see no evidence of God's existence, yet find plenty of evidence of His absence. I came from a Christian background, but became an Atheist when serious events happened in my life to make me question what I'd been taught. My beliefs are my conclusion.

Because all the evidence points to the fact that all gods throughout history were created by people. Why should these latest ones be any different?

The term atheist is without theism, and evidence strongly suggests that there is no supernatural god in hyperspace, just as evidence points to non-existance of fairies. Therefore we require evidence for any evaluations and do not require 'belief' for this.

Why do you bother asking
They could ask you why do you believe
Each to their own
Life is what you make it and what you want to believe in searching for your own truth and not what other people want you to believe
We are all here for and experience of life for our own personal growth and with that comes our own beliefs so ask yourself is what you believe in your own or what someone wants you to believe in ???????
An open mind is a healthy mind : )
I can give them credit because they put all their faith and beliefs in themselves and not a book of mistranslated crap
And no I am not a Atheist
I am Spiritual
I believe what I know and found to be true to me not what I am told : )
Love & Blessings

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist. People believe in specific gods because of indoctrination from an early age, tradition, hallucinations, fear of torture (for gods sadistic enough to threaten it) and other similarly illogical reasons. But no gods exist in reality; these are all stories, created for people who were scared of the world long before we understood it. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

because i believe it's the rational thing to do.
p.s. you do realize that daring people NOT to say anything bad about your religion is just INVITING them to do so, don't you?

I just do.
Really, that's the easiest explanation for it.
I didn't grow up in a religious family of any sort (my parents refused to bring me up in anything in particular...they wanted me to make my own choice).
God kinda seems like a foreign idea to me.
