What exactly leads you to believe that Latter-day saints treat women as 2nd-class people?
The fact that a man likely cannot enter the highest levels of glory in Heaven without a wife?
The fact that Utah gave women the right to vote in 1870, 50 years before the rest of the country?
The fact that the Relief Society within the church is the world's largest charitable women's organization?
Maybe this line in The Family: A Proclamation to the World?
"We warn that individuals... who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God."

If LDS treat their women as 2nd-class citizens, then why would James E. Faust, an apostle in the LDS church who died a week ago, be remembered this way as a husband?
"'Mother always came first in Dad's life,' said son Marcus Faust"

If this is 2nd class, then what exactly is 1st class? How do you think I treat my wife? If you're ever in Ohio, come over and we can discuss it while I cook dinner.

Hu? I have never felt second class or been treated that way, infact the church teaches men and women are equals, especially in the family unit.
I attended a temple marriage once where the sealer pointed out that in the bible it stated that God gave Adam a woman as a "help meet"...not a "help MATE" because mate would indicate the man was the "captain" and the woman was the mate...but this is not so. We are equal in God's eyes and in each others' eyes and that's what matters.

That's baloney. My mom is a Mormon woman and she is the glue that holds my family together! Many of the moms in my ward are the same way in their families. Why would we treat them as second-class citizens? We can't live without them.

I don't know where people get this stereotype from. I am not a woman, but I am LDS and I have seen enough in my 19 years in the church to know that women are definitely not treated as "second-class citizens".

I used to be a "Mormon" woman...and my husband hit me and my kids (and was a frequenter of porno too)....and several bishops knew about it in several parts of the world. He didnt even get a slap on the wrist and I was made to feel like if I had only been a better wife then maybe he wouldnt be that way. A bunch of bullcrap. Now I am with a man who might be considered agnostic and wouldnt dream of doing things like that to me.

Define first and second class. If you mean that men have the priesthood, and preside in the church, that is true. I don't believe that makes them a higher class. The point of the church is to provide service. Women do this quit naturally. Men need to be given a calling to get them to participate.

If you mean that women have children, and are more likely to work in the home, that is true. It is biology and culture. It is not second class to give life. It is a power we share with Heavenly Father.

Are all husbands kind and loving. No, clearly not. If they are in the church, at least they are getting lectured at least twice a year to be better.

Interesting that i am a Mormon and have not know hardly any men treating their wives and daughters that way. Even if they are it is not part of the doctrine. They can actually be excommunicated.

I'm not sure where you got your info from, but Mormon women that I know ,are not treated as second class citizens (anything but )
Is this all hearsay ? or do you actually KNOW any Mormon women ?
I think you will find you are mis-informed in this instance.

i think of this sums it up rather nicely... Doctrine and Covenants 121:39 - 39 we've found out by ability of unhappy adventure that that's the character and disposition of very almost all adult adult males, as quickly as they get slightly authority, as they think, they're going to at present start to exercising unrighteous dominion. even if Mormon doctrine glorifies women folk and womanhood, and my very own expensive husband has found out nicely from each and every of the final government to handle his spouse and childrens with love and appreciate, i can't help yet observe that there ARE adult adult males who %. and decide among the doctrines with a view to exercising their penchant for domination. There ARE some very depressing women folk in "Mormondom" because of fact of those manipulative jerks. particular, that is elementary to abuse women folk who don't have the financial means (or the actual stamina, because of being pregnant, etc) to inform a jerk the place to circulate... That stated, i think of maximum folk of the management is sturdy and truthful, and extremely loving and supportive of their different halves... certainly, finding lower back, all of my Bishops have been married to rather dominant women folk, lol! particular, I do think of being pregnant does make one experience rather powerless (I hate being pregnant.. however the outcomes are well worth it, lol). even nonetheless, i've got under no circumstances been dealt with as a "2nd type citizen". certainly, from what i've got gleaned from the instructions, and how i've got been dealt with by ability of my truthful husband, i've got continuously felt commemorated and precious for my goddess like traits. lots of the "Mormon jerks" i understand have been semi-lively. the adult adult males who humbly learn the instructions and persist with them... they're real gem stones of humanity! each and every (sturdy) female merits a husband like that!

My guess is that they don't feel they're being treated that way. In other words, I can't picture Mormon women walking around mumbling to themselves about "the man" keeping them down.

Are you that dumb to say something but have no real base to your statements? I will say this again like I have said to you before you need to shut your big mouth when you have not a clue what you are talking about. so please have facts not something you pulled out of the sky. I'm not Mormon because I for one do not believe in an organized religion now go ahead and give me thumbs down and report me but I don't care one bit
