The government is radical islamists. The people they are killing are Christians and animists who refuse to continue to be oppressed. Sudan once hosted OBL, until he got too risky to host.
It's the same reason Al-Qaeda flew planes into WTC and the Pentagon. That's the basis. That's the reason they refused UN help and absolutely do not want US interference.

It's because of the massive displacement of the tribes to accomodate the oil pipelines right across the Sudan.
It's going to be a Chinese pipeline, and the Government of Sudan is complicit in the genocide.
In Chad, it's the US, the UK and the French building another pipeline - same genocide there.

African warlords have a habit of killing people. Yes, that's all they are, warlords. This is a tribal thing. Why doesn't the West get involved? One can't get involved in the politics of killing unless one kills the aggressors. That would mean getting involved in a civil war.
