I think people do this because it's easier to pin the blame on something that is never seen, hard to define, and attributed with a great deal of power. The ultimate scapegoat. The only missing element here, and the thing that takes the most away from those arguments, is that God has no defined motive to hinder or harm.
As an aside - I think God is responsible for everything. Notwithstanding the application of the individual will, none of this would be, if not for God. If you consider that God exists _a priori_, and is the causal predicate of everything, then God is the proximate cause of every thing, good, bad or otherwise.

People will blame God, as either a Cheap get out Clause, or for the reason that he/she/it is meant to Be All Seeing, All Knowing, All Loving etc and is yet to stop anything concurrently bad from happening, Err go, a Good person to blame, Someone who does nothing.

People don't blame a god for everything.... good nor bad... The only ones who do that are those unwilling to take charge of their own lives and be responsible... the supernaturalists sit and cry, and pray, and wait for a sign from a god that never comes... The humanists roll up their sleeves and get the job done.
And no one in their right mind believes in a sky daddy as a definition of god... God is not a being, god is being itself... it is love, and energy, and dynamics and change, and the wonder of science, astronomy, and the value of one life.... even the catholic church admits evolution happened, so if you call god evolution, or DNA, fine...but a personality watching everyone's little move??? nah, fairytales, and you know it...and most of them do to.

I don't blame Him. I thank Him instead because He gave me a lot of blessings. People always go "life is so unfair".
And sometimes it is but sometimes we just have to make the best out of it because things happen for a reason. Who'd want to be perfect? Okay, yeah some people would. But then wouldn't life be boring? I'd rather screw up lots of times AND THEN get to the top rather than get my first try done and perfect. There's a missing sensation that you get when you try and try until you achieve it really. And some people even have like defects, like they only have 4 fingers etc. but they're happier than most people who worry about they're looks, their incapabilities and whatever.

For a lot of reasons but the I believe that it is to minimize their own guilt about thigns.
Oddly enough, those same people who blame God for everything seem to be very ungrateful when things go their way. They are quick to blame and slow to praise or show thankfulness.

Now I do not blame God. I will not blame him for anything, but he is the reason i am here. We r all here for a reason, to worship God, and lead others to God. I don't blame him for me being perfect, i blame my self for that. He gave everyone a choice to be who they want to be.
when i screw up it's my fault i blame that on no one but me.
God bless you Sean.

Because as the saying goes, It's easier to blame someone else than to blame ones self. I don't blame God for anything.

If God's supposed to be in control of everthing, he's doing quite a bang-up job. If God is supposedly a father and we're his children, don't you think it's about time he step into the playpen every once and awhile? Talk about your negligent parenting...
But yeah, it's silly to blame things on God, because if there is a God (and who knows if there is) I really don't think he (it?) really cares about what's going on in the human world.
You're right. Why blame a non-existent, anthropomophic conception of God for human stupidity and bad luck?

Who blames god for everything? I don't blame god any more than I'd blame the tooth fairy; neither exists. And the people who do believe, it seems to me, give god credit for things they like but no blame for the horrible things, from children dying of cancer or being beaten to death, to natural disasters like tornadoes or tsunamis.
