also, when i am sleeping the inside of my mouth gets so dry it wakes me up and i have to get a drink. in the morning it is the same, i can barely speak and it almost hurts to open it.i have never experienced these symptoms associated with a cold before. i'm still not over my cold and am going to the doctor tomorrow. a friend of mine and i were just discussing this on the phone and he said he has been experiencing the same dry mouth at nite since his cold a few months ago. is this something new in the viral world? i'll see what the doctor says, i wish i had gone sooner because this is really getting old.

Sometimes when your lips get chapped they need some extra help to heal themselves.

Go get some Blistex Medicated (in the tube not the tub), apply it for a week and thank me later.

me thinks, you suffer from nasal congestion - which gets worse when you lie down.this causes you to breathe through your mouth leading to dryness in the mouth and surrounding area.
first apply plain petroleum jelly (cold cream) for immediate relief.get full treatment for the cold.

well I hope you feel better soon, none of those things are any fun...the only thing I can think of is somehow your body is dehydrated or something similar...I'm sure your doctor will be able to tell you what's going on...
